Our menu features a balanced selection of hearty and lighter fare, inspired by elevated American dishes and California's seasonal approach to food.
We are seeking a Bartender to join our Menlo Tavern team.
Masters at Mixology, our bartenders are able to craft the perfect drink for every occasion. Their wine knowledge is exceptional and they delight in helping guest discover the wonderful bounty that California offers. They create and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks by performing the duties listed.
- Maintain presence at the bar at all times; greet every guest in a friendly and courteous manner
- Suggestively sell cocktails, wine and beer to our guests and make recommendations for pairings with our menu
- Take beverage orders from customers or food servers
- Verify guests’ identification and legal drinking age
- Mix ingredients such as liquor, soda, water and juices to prepare cocktails and other drinks; serve orders in a timely manner
- Ensure that the bar is stocked by monitoring inventory and requisitioning liquors and supplies.
- Cleans Bar and liquor storage areas as assigned
- Collects money for drinks served
- Balance banks and daily receipts
- Orders or requisitions liquors and supplies
- Arranges bottles and glasses to make attractive display
- Slices and pits fruit for garnishing drinks
- All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
- Visually inspect the restaurant and bar and take action to ensure the restaurant is clean and organized and all equipment is in working order.
- Regularly monitor product quality and plate presentation to ensure consistency of service standards.
- Ensure food items are prepared to guest specifications by interacting with guests, ascertaining satisfaction and assisting in resolving the issue if a problem of dissatisfaction arises with the level of service or the food item requested.
- Regularly monitor supplies, to include linen, glassware, china, silverware and condiments, to ensure the restaurant is properly stocked to meet the needs of business.
- Document and submit work orders as necessary.
- All other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with the hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the hotel facilities.

- Displays knowledge of drink recipes, drink and wine merchandising specials
- Knowledge of basic drink service and Bar terminology
- Knowledgeable of State and Federal liquor laws
- Must be able to detect and act professionally when a guest is intoxicated
- Read write and speak English fluently
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- The ability to effectively deal with customers some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Knowledgeable of third party liability

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES
Required: Responsible Service of Alcohol, ServSafe, Food Handler. CPR/First Aid preferred.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. High school diploma preferred. One year prior bartending experience is preferred, TIPS training certification is preferred. Minimum one year of management experience is strongly preferred.

PAY SCALE
The pay scale for this position is between $19.00 and $21.63 per hour, plus tips. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual wage rates will be based on a number of factors, such as experience, type of hotel experience, and education.
