SCOPE & BASIC FUNCTION:
- Responsible for conducting quality studies and improving the quality system by analyzing data and doing corrective actions
- Investigating raw material and production problems by establishing raw material and in-process specifications and doing root cause analysis (5 Whys or DMAIC or similar).
- Conducting in-depth investigations and analyzing data using appropriate statistical methods.
- Conducting capability studies for new product introductions and new raw materials. Writing reports with clear analysis, conclusions, recommendations and next steps.
- Doing inspections and tests including laboratory tests and training laboratory, quality and engineering personnel to do this work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Regular attendance and punctuality required.
- Evaluate new and existing processes and raw materials.
- Review supplier COA’s and disposition raw materials.
- Interact with Purchasing and Suppliers on quality issues and on a regular basis.
- Communicate with engineering personnel to develop raw material and in-process specs.
- Develop inspection and test procedures.
- Actively seek out quality problems and develop corrective actions.
- Calibrate measuring devices and assure measuring devices are calibrated as needed.
- Train operators, inspectors and other personnel performing inspections and tests.
- Maintain logs and assure material traceability, as required
- Conduct studies, analyze data and write concise reports
- Present quality issues and data analysis in a concise manner to engineering personnel to arrive at best practice solutions.
- Conduct Supplier quality audits at supplier’s sites and by doing desktop audits.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER SKILLS:
- AAS degree in related technical field or equivalent experience in quality systems improvement preferred.
- 3 plus years of practical inspection and quality experience in manufacturing
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interpret drawings and material & contract specifications.
- Working knowledge of quality systems.
- Ability to interpret customer quality and technical specifications.
- Able to organize and coordinate multiple tasks and activities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Able to identify and solve problems based on data and statistical analysis of data.
