Job Summary: This position is primarily responsible for performing tasks in the field under the direction of an experienced Survey Crew Chief.
Essential Functions: Supports Crew Chief by performing job assignments such as basic field calculations, assisting in boundary monument recovery, brush clearing, topographic surveying, utility inventories, establishment of geodetic control, photo / lidar control, etc. Monitors conditions of equipment and reports repair needs as necessary. Records field data in electronic data collector. Downloads electronic data and logs downloads. Loads and unloads equipment from survey vehicle daily. Maintains survey equipment including electronic total stations, GNSS units, antenna, radios, cables, batteries, modems, tripods, rods, levels, generators, traffic control devices, etc.

Responsibilities
- Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. and applicable OSHA certifications.
- One (1) year of related work experience preferred.
- Must be mentally and physically capable of performing all essential duties required of the position.
- Must have average communication skills, both verbal and written and be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Must be able to travel frequently and extensively, overnight and/or out of town.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
- Good physical condition and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must pass a pre-employment driver’s license background check and maintain satisfactory driving record, as required by our insurance company.
- Must successfully pass periodic drug testing as required by company policy
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow instructions from the Survey Crew Chief and adhere to established survey procedures and safety guidelines.
- Must be able to work with survey-related mathematical concepts (proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, slope, elevations, coordinates, etc.).
- Assist crew chief with the setup and breakdown of survey equipment at job sites.
- Assist crew chief with collecting and verifying accurate field data for various types of surveys.
- Assist crew chief with recording detailed and precise field notes, sketches, and reports.
- Assist with data transfer from field instruments to office computers and perform preliminary data processing.
- Assist crew chief with Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to survey instruments and data collection.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Good physical condition and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to frequently reach with hands and arms, bend and climb and/or balance.
- Ability to use tools, and equipment. For instance, Tape measure, cloth / steel tape, machete, hammer.
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- CPU literate: Basic computer skills, including familiarity with data transfer and basic software used in surveying.
- Must have vision abilities of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Work is performed primarily in outdoor environments, often in remote and rugged locations.
- Exposure to various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
- Physical demands include standing for extended periods, walking on uneven terrain, and carrying equipment.
