Job Posting for Child Development Center Director at Wor-Wic Community College
Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a director of the Jordan Center to provide vision and strategic leadership for the college's day care and pre-k school programs.
Essential Duties
The following list is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with this position.
Provides overall management of the child development and pre-kindergarten areas, including developing and monitoring the budget, overseeing staffing and professional development, maintaining accurate records and documentation, providing leadership and accurate recordkeeping for grants, and overseeing the development, implementation and evaluation of developmentally appropriate educational programs, child enrollment procedures and services to children enrolled at the center
Collaborates with faculty and staff to oversee onsite laboratory school processes that comply with college policies; acts as placement supervisor and mentor for student practicum and observations
Administers and coordinates goals, policies and procedures to maintain licensing regulations and accreditation standards that comply with local, state, and federal laws; ensures the work environment is positive and productive, and center operations evolve through continuous processes for quality improvement
Advocates for the child development center by serving on college committees, establishing and maintaining effective community partnerships, attending meetings as required, and keeping informed of industry trends
Intervenes as an advocate for clients or patients to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations
Serves as child care teacher when teachers are on leave or need additional assistance
Manages the annual and five-year comprehensive department assessment process as per the college assessment plan
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field
Two years of supervised experience working with preschoolers in an approved setting
At least 400 hours of supervised experience working with school-aged children in an approved setting
Excellent organizational, human relations and oral and written communication skills
The ability to work with small children
Grant and budget management skills
Microsoft Office skills
Current infant and child CPR certification
Current first aid certification
Pre-employment medical report and approval from the Maryland Department of Education, Office of Child Care is required.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age; must be knowledgeable of state licensing and regulations as well as federal laws and accreditation
Supplemental Information
This is a full-time standard administrative position. Days and Hours of work are Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (1 hour lunch)
