Title: Protective Services Supervisor
Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt (35.00 hours)
Reports to: Asst. Manager of Operations
Direct Reports: Construction Guards/Gallery Attendants/Entrance Guards
Pay rate: $23.25 per hour
Purpose: Supervises the safety and security of building, collection, staff, and visitors. Provides support and implementation of daily operations, special events and other front-line processes.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Hire, schedule, and supervise Capital Project Guards, Gallery Attendants and Entrance Guards.
- Train and coach team in duties, policies, and procedures; provide daily briefings as necessary, and facilitate bi-monthly team meetings. Ensure that all aspects of training are documented.
- Works closely with management to stay abreast of capital project work; ensure that work in capital project areas are staffed appropriately and that the area is secure.
- Review policies and process and update as needed. Ensure training of new and updated policies/processes.
- Provide on-site supervision of Protective Services staff during day shifts and during events to ensure customer service excellence, the security and safety of the collection, the facility, and all people in the facility.
- Assist in the implementation of safety and security measures and new initiatives.
- Participate in planning meetings to understand logistics for events to support success.
- Manage events and functions; ensure appropriate staffing, able to recognize security and safety concerns.
- Serve as Manager-on-Duty in rotation with other Protective Services Supervisors; duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Supervise opening/closing of the Museum
- Ensure coverage of Operation posts and shifts. Contact staff for coverage, as needed.
- Oversee the escorting of all unauthorized persons entering Museum, including but not limited to construction workers, delivery, service, and official visitors
- Investigate, document, and report concerns regarding the art collection.
- Investigate, document, and report accidents of visitors or staff; provide first aid or emergency services, as needed.
- Review daily log provided by Central Control Room. Resolve any problems within scope of duties and responsibilities.
- Report security and safety concerns that impact the persons or the art collection
- Communicate with supervisor insights on the daily operation and annual budgets; as well as any security/safety issues.
- Work cross-departmentally to collaboratively problem solve, provide insight and guidance, and proactively support and implement solutions, as appropriate
- Recommend procedures to enhance the security of the Museum
- Perform the duties of a guard when necessary
- Perform other related duties as assigned

- Ability to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training (provided by WAM) annually

Education:
- HS diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
1 to 3 years in a similar position or experience with front line customer services and or management skills and experience.
Good knowledge and/or experience of the Capital Project Guard/Gallery Attendant / Entrance Guard position or similar leadership role or work experience.
