Music Teacher SY24/25

Position Overview

Worcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School is seeking a Part-Time Music Teacher (20 hours per week) to develop and deliver a high-quality music curriculum. The Music teacher will be responsible for teaching choral and instrumental music to Academy Students. The Music teacher will be expected to collaborate with colleagues to integrate music into the academic program. The Music teacher will also be responsible for music during the weekly Town Meetings.

About the School

Worcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School opened in 2023 and serves students in grades K-4 during the SY2023-24 school year and K-5 SY2024-2025. As an EL (Expeditionary Learning) Education school, we believe in hands-on learning that focuses on three levels of student achievement: mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution
• Valid Massachusetts teaching license in Music: Vocal/Instrumental/General Music (All Levels)
• Valid SEI Endorsement preferred
• Responsibilities
• Experience teaching Music to elementary school students

• Orff Certification strongly preferred
• Strong background in choral music
• Ability to play piano, guitar and recorder
• Ability to lead whole school weekly gatherings (Town Meeting)
• Experience designing standards-based curriculum that connects to learning expeditions
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Teaching experience an/or professional learning which are consistent with out project-based, interdisciplinary education philosophyJoin Our Adult Crew

At Worcester Cultural Academy, our faculty and staff collaborate and support one another and our students through a number of school-wide activities, events and celebrations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead and participate in these events, ranging from student and family orientation activities to celebrations of learning to graduation. We work together to support the safe and happy arrival and dismissal of our students, collaborate and plan together and use data to guide decision-making.

We are intentional about engaging our faculty and staff in the development of the Academy and of themselves. School-wide professional meetings happen before the start of the school year and throughout.
Compensation: Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
