What are the responsibilities and job description for the Innovation Pathways Program Teacher - Information Technology Support Services and Networking position at Worcester Public Schools?
The Worcester Public Schools is seeking a teacher for its Innovation Pathways Program. Worcester Public Schools Innovation Pathway Program is a partnership between Worcesters comprehensive high schools and Worcester Technical High School designed to help students understand and plan for future career fields. Through participation in the program, students will have the chance to explore a career field of interest and the potential to earn industry recognized credentials/certifications. Whether a student is pursuing higher education immediately upon graduation or interested in jump starting their career, they will have more knowledge and be more competitive having completed the Innovation Pathways Program.This position is a program teaching position for the technical classes the students take in the afternoons at Worcester Technical High School.
The successful applicant will assume the responsibility for delivering high quality instructional experiences in accordance with the CVTE curriculum frameworks and other objectives identified as program outcomes, as well as the rules and regulations of the Worcester Public Schools. Additionally, applicants should be comfortable exposing students to the many career options that exist within their selected field of study. The successful applicant must have work-experience in the technical field and will instruct with rigor using creativity, resourcefulness, perseverance, empathy, and sound judgment.This technical teaching position is in the Information Technology program and aligns with much of CVTE Support Services and Networking frameworks. There are two position open in this program.
One will prepare students for CompTIA IT Fundamentals certification as an introduction to networking, help desk, and other related skills. The other position will utilize the CodeHS curriculum to develop and understanding and skills in cybersecurity.Dates/times/schedule: November 6, 2022 - March 15, 2023 Technical course time frameMeeting dates prior to November 6 for planning will be required.Professional Development with curriculum partners will also be expected.The Innovation Pathways Program operates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:15pm - 5:45pm at Worcester Technical High School. Teachers will work with the Director to schedule 2 days/week and use the third day as a possible make-up day for remote work or snow or other cancellations. Additionally, a minimum of one-1 hour meeting/month will be expected.Job RequirementsQualified candidates will hold a vocational teacher license or be licensable through DESE in Support Services and Networking or in Computer Science.
This license requires 4 years of industry experience and candidates who are not yet licensed but are pursuing certification will need to provide evidence of this requirement.Salary: In accordance with the Unit A CBA, the pay is $37/hour
