As a Technical Writer Intern for the Workato Product and Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to develop valuable skills in creating technical documentation and instructional content. You'll work closely with team members to enhance the usability of our technical documentation and contribute to the overall improvement of user experience.
We're looking for a skilled writer who can quickly research and learn, and effectively communicate complex technical concepts with clarity, consistency, and simplicity.
Assist the Documentation Team in creating clear and informative content that educates users on Workato's features and functionality.
Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other team members to gather functional details and obtain technical reviews for documentation.
Contribute to the improvement of existing documentation by providing valuable feedback and recommendations.
Participate in team initiatives to establish style and process guidelines for documentation creation.
Occasionally contribute to internal documentation and provide input into tool and usability decisions.
Pursuing a degree in technical writing, computer science, or a related field.
Familiarity with Markdown, JSON, text editors, and source code repositories (experience with GitHub preferred).
Strong ability to write clear and effective technical content tailored for developer audiences.
Able to work independently and cross-functionally, with the capacity to quickly learn new skills.
Comfortable interacting with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Knowledge of technical writing standards and familiarity with common style guides.
Familiarity with Chatbots or Natural Language Processing is a plus.
Familiarity with the command line is a plus.
Experience and expertise in SEO is a plus.
Month 1: Spend time listening and learning. Meet with your team and colleagues at Workato to understand the current state of documentation and familiarize yourself with the company culture.
Month 2: Contribute to the improvement of product content by providing valuable insights and recommendations. Author documentation as well as edit existing documentation for clarity and consistency.
Month 3: Collaborate with other team members to align and establish style and process guidelines for documentation.
