Job Summary
Maintain the general ledgers of the company and related entities, Federal and State and city compliance activities.
Provide control function activities for cash receipts, cash disbursements, payroll, fixed assets and all other general ledger accounts.
The senior accountant serves as an essential part of the company system of internal controls.
The staff accounting principal duties are financial accounting and determining proper general ledger account distribution for all financial transactions.
The senior accountant maintains company records on a confidential basis for management and owners.
Responsibilities
- Cash receipts accounting: Oversees daily cash deposit, daily cash analysis and daily bank account balance.
- Cash disbursements accounting: Verifies G/L posting.
- Budget accounting: Ledger posting and ledger maintenance.
- Maintains chart of accounts.
- Assists in training and reviewing work of staff/junior accountants
- Prepares and enters journal entries including Payroll
- Federal and State tax deposits.
- Prepares reconciliations of the subsidiary ledgers to G/L, payroll, 401(k) contributions, employee benefits, taxes payable, equity.
- Calculates and records necessary monthly accruals.
- Assists in reviewing reconciliations prepared by staff/junior accountants.
- Calculates commissions.
- Prepares audit schedules as directed by Controller and CFO.
- Helps to prepare and submit all Forms 1099 and 1098.
- Maintains Form W-2/W-3 file.
- Maintains all historical financial records.
- Prepares all the regulatory governmental reports.
- Maintains physician’s personal account summary. Maintain stock-ownership account.

Qualifications
- Degrees needed: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business with an emphasis in financial accounting.
- Years of experience needed: 3 – 5 year’s experience in general ledger accounting.
- Must be competent in the Windows operating system environment, Adobe Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), accounting software (Sage Intacct) and learn other software as needed.
- The ability to create and edit written materials; ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences; the skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities; strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
