Through scientific molding technologies and superior in-house tool design, this plastic injection company in Sturgis has become a leading molding solutions provider by engineering products such as automotive parts and medicine cups. They are looking for a 1st Shift Cell Lead to join their team!

Job Description:
The Cell Lead is responsible for ensuring operational safety, product quality, and efficient plant operations to meet the business objectives. The Cell Lead oversees and coordinates the activities within a specific production cell or area, working closely with the Value Stream Leader to implement improvements and ensure smooth operations.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform quality checks and review data on Manufacturing Inspection Reports (MIRs) for completeness and accuracy to maintain product quality standards.
  • Provide support to associates by assisting with breaks and addressing any operational questions or concerns.
  • Collaborate with the Value Stream Leader to identify opportunities for process improvement, participate in the implementation of new work instructions, and optimize cell layouts.
  • Train and mentor other associates, as assigned by the Value Stream Leader, to ensure workforce competence and consistency in processes.
  • Efficiently stage, deliver, remove, and label all production finished goods to and from the production facility.
  • Be prepared to step in and assist in running presses as needed to maintain production flow.
  • Complete any additional tasks or responsibilities assigned by the Value Stream Leader to support overall plant operations.
Job Qualifications:
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, which may involve some light lifting of finished goods boxes.
  • Proficient in reading and comprehending written English for understanding work instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Strong verbal communication and leadership skills to effectively coordinate activities within the production cell.
  • Capable of accurately counting parts and distinguishing between right and left-hand components.
  • Physical capability to stand and demonstrate dexterity of movement (e.g., bending, turning) over an eight-hour shift.
  • Regular attendance is essential for maintaining a stable and productive production environment.
  • Training will be provided, and the candidate should be willing to undergo approximately 1-2 weeks of training to become proficient in the role.
Measures of Performance:
  • Daily Gemba Metric performance, including Safety, Quality, and Delivery metrics, to ensure operational excellence and compliance with standards.
  • Regular attendance record to ensure team availability and uninterrupted production flow.
  • Quality performance on parts made to meet product quality requirements and customer expectations.
  • Adherence to cycle times to optimize production efficiency and meet delivery deadlines.
Compensation:
Pay rates for the 1st Shift Cell Lead position are competitive, with compensation starting at $16/hr.
