The Visual Observer/Technician is an active flight crew member who assists with flight and maintenance operations. The person in this role collaborates with Engineering, Quality, Publications, and with customers and other stakeholders. The person in this role is the face of the business that expresses safety and professionalism.
Additional Job Responsibilities
The Visual Observer/Technician is responsible for conducting and supporting flight operations and maintenance operations. This person collaborates with Engineering and Quality teams on conducting flight tests, maintenance tasks, and other related tasks. Job responsibilities include:
- Professional and interpersonal leadership. The Visual Observer/Technician must be able to overcome challenges and apply critical thinking skills to get the job done and manage tasks.
- Technical leadership. The Visual Observer/Technician must understand aircraft systems, GCS, and associated systems, and be able to troubleshoot these systems.
- Compliance. The Visual Observer/Technician must have a deep understanding of the safety, technical and regulatory procedures for maintain aircraft and operating our aircraft in both standard and testing environments.
- Teamwork. Working well with others and taking care of crew members is a must.
- Writing well. The Visual Observer/Technician will write documents, fill out forms, and record data. Strong writing skills are a key component to success in this role.
- Strong organizational skills. Compliant flight and maintenance operations require excellent organizational skills and record keeping.
- Problem Solving. The Visual Observer/Technician must have strong troubleshooting skills to overcome various situations that may arise during flight and maintenance operations.
Requirements
- Part 107 Certificate is preferred.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience with sUAS systems is preferred.
- An FAA or other government certification as an airman or technician is preferred.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Compliance with our random drug testing program is required.
- Strong writing skills and proficiency in word processors, spreadsheets and data bases is required.
- Hands on skills, knowledge of tools, and soldering is preferred.
The job requires working in a manufacturing environment in close proximity to moving machinery, occasional loud noises and high voltage electricity. The job also requires working outside for extended periods, in the field, during very hot and very cold conditions. Occasional weekend and evening work is required. Overnight travel is required up to 30% of the time.
