About this role:
Due to the company’s consistent growth, WORKS by JD is currently recruiting for a Lead Painter to join our team.
The painting division works on interior and exterior residential structures. The Lead Painter will have experience with the necessary tools and be comfortable working at various heights and spaces while observing all safety measures. The successful applicant will be knowledgeable in selecting the right material for the job and leading a team to deliver a quality project. Painting provides both practical and aesthetic benefits to the finish of a project and WORKS by JD goal is to deliver consistent high-quality painting work.
Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Setting up and breaking down interior and exterior job sites, preparing surfaces for paint or stain, applying base and finish coats of paint/stain, and cleaning up the worksite. The position also performs basic carpentry repair work as needed.
- Implementing quality control standards for all work in progress to include the identification of errors and omissions and taking corrective measures immediately.
- Possess a clear understanding of the project’s scope, materials, timeline, and budget and communicate this understanding to all members of the team.
- Communicating the project status and any concerns to the team, leadership, and the client throughout the project.
- Ensuring purchasing is organized to maximize efficiencies, minimize cost, and managed timely to ensure the project remains on schedule and sufficient materials are always on hand.
- Coaching painters and apprentice painters on the company’s processes, quality standards, project scope, and system applications i.e., Builder Trend, Tsheets, and Bamboo HR.
- Proactively and thoroughly communicate with all team members and subcontractors on a continuous basis.
- Maintaining job files to ensure change orders, receipts, daily logs, contracts, subcontracts, and any other necessary communications are available as needed.
- Continuously follow all OSHA & EPA Regulations for RRP (Renovate Repair Painting Program) for any structure built prior to 1978.
- Understand Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements for cleaning and disposing of paint
Qualifications:
The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications.
- A minimum of 10 years professional painting experience in a high-end residential setting
- The talent to continuously maintain a high level of customer service and a strong work ethic.
- Solid knowledge of construction painting techniques
- Extensive knowledge of various painting materials and how to select, mix and apply them
- Aptitude in using appropriate painting tools (brushes, caulking guns, etc.)
- Basic math skills
- The ability to effectively communicate in a team environment with members at all levels, including clients.
- The ability to work both independently and as a member of a collaborative team
- The willingness to work inside or outside in New England weather throughout the year.
- An exceptional level of professionalism at all times.
- OSHA 10 and RRP certifications (a plus)
- The ability to travel 45 minutes to 1 hour outside of Beverly to various job sites.
- Physically able to stand, walk, climb interior and exterior ladders or staging to 50 feet, and lift 80-100 lbs. continuously throughout the day.
Other Requirements:
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Be willing to submit to a background check to include a current review of the applicant’s driving record.
- Be able to provide two documents, upon hire, showing proof of eligibility to be hired in the United States.
