What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Attorney position at World Central Kitchen?
World Central Kitchen, Inc. (WCK) seeks a talented team member to serve as General Attorney. This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Policy, and is responsible for providing legal advice and support to the organization on a broad range of topics from general non-profit and corporate governance matters. This position is intended to be based in Washington DC; however, a remote location may be considered.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support to the organization on a broad range of areas, including procurement, contracting, fundraising and development, labor and employment, licensing, and real estate.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of legal contracts and agreements.
- Provide legal advice and support on disaster and humanitarian relief activations, including advising on local and international laws.
- Assist leadership as needed with developing and implementing legal strategy to support the organization’s mission and growth strategy.
- Assist with managing relationships with pro bono and outside counsel as needed.
- May require travel.
Requirements
- J.D. and active bar license in good standing.
- At least 6 years of legal experience in general non-profit or corporate law, with a strong preference for in-house experience at an international and/or humanitarian 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization.
- Dynamic skill set with analytical, organizational, interpersonal, project management, problem solving, verbal and written communication/presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Ability to work independently without supervision and with a variety of internal clients to achieve organizational goals.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated interest in the organization’s mission.
- Ability to travel as needed.
