In the United States, we come alongside local churches, community organizations and hundreds of individual volunteers to support newly arriving refugee and other immigrant families. Today, we are proud to partner with over 6,000 local churches, and 95,000 volunteers globally to bring hope, healing and transformation to the most vulnerable.

The Church Mobilizer role supports World Relief Sacramento’s (WRS) efforts of building a welcoming community through Church engagement that positively impacts clients, volunteers, and the community. The Church Mobilizer will build bridges between the broader community and local churches, cast vision and convene church leaders for collaborative ministry, identify and equip key church partners and leaders, collaborate to secure church partnerships, and evaluate ministry effectiveness with all stakeholders.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with immigrant and multi-ethnic churches to learn about their ministries and find ways to partner together to serve immigrants and refugees in WRS communities
  • Contribute to strategic planning discussions within WRS Community Engagement team around ways to deepen engagement with immigrant and multi-ethnic churches
  • Appropriately document and measure progress of the work according to strategic plans
  • Unite churches from various backgrounds to learn and serve together as a network of WRS church partners. Provide individual and ongoing opportunities to serve
  • Through one-on-one consultations and by regularly attending church networks, find ways to maintain/grow an ongoing relationship with churches and WRS
  • Equip churches and church leaders with Bible study curricula and other learning resources to examine immigration from a Biblical perspective with their congregations   
  • Promote understanding of and church participation in advocacy efforts around issues of immigration, immigration reform, and the overall treatment of vulnerable populations 
  • Represent World Relief across the Sacramento region through attending worship services, mission conferences, and other events hosted by the local church
  • Increase the number of churches donating to World Relief through: Financial Giving, Provide meeting rooms for refugee classes, Volunteers, GNT teams, and Gifts-In-Kind donations
  • Other duties as assigned 


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Cross-cultural experience preferred;
  • Biblical knowledge and understanding of the scriptural basis for work among immigrants;
  • Sensitivity to strengths and needs specific to immigrant churches and the ability to network within immigrant communities;
  • Ability to manage multiple demands and deadlines with flexibility;
  • Basic computer skills required (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint);
  • People-oriented and comfortable speaking in one-on-one and group contexts;
  • Regular evening and weekend availability required;
  • Self-motivated with strong follow-through and problem-solving skills;
  • Committed to working in a collaborative environment;
  • Proficiency in one or more common participant languages is highly desirable;

  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
  • Flexibility in schedule required (meetings with volunteers often fall outside normal business hours);
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred;
  • At least three years working with churches and the community;
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

- Eligibility: Full Time (40 hours per week) is eligible after 3 months of employment. Part time is eligible after 1000 hours in a year.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

·         While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations

·         The ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-15 pounds.

·         Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information.

·         The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

 

·         General office setting. World Relief also offers hybrid and remote schedules for limited positions.

·         Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in virtual meetings may be required.

·         Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending.

·         Physical, emotional and intellectual demands

·         Equipment used: Employee computer (desktop or laptop), printer, and copier.
