World Relief Western Washington seeks a talented and versatile Communications Coordinator to join our Development Team. The Communications Coordinator will play an integral role in sharing the story of our community and work with a wide variety of audiences, including financial partners, churches and community organizations, volunteers, and general public.   This position will help maintain branding and messaging consistency throughout World Relief Western Washington. 


Compensation: $27.75- $28.6 per hour

Role & Responsibilities

  • Partner communications – 75%
  • Collaborate with the Director of Strategic Advancement and the Development team to set and adhere to a communications strategy and budget
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications staff in other World Relief offices to share ideas and resources
  • Manage all direct mail communications including:
  • Collaborating with the Director of Strategic Advancement to set and adhere to a direct mail calendar for donors and potential donors
  • Writing and designing printed materials, such as letters, greeting cards, postcards, newsletters, and reports
  • Maintain an accurate and accessible mailing list, and ensure data integrity between various systems (Raiser’s Edge, Dynamics, Constant Contact, etc.)
  • Develops content and directs creative execution to provide a consistent, targeted, and impactful message.
  • Builds and maintains solid partnerships with programs to better develop, coordinate, direct, and facilitate strategic communications designed to meet fundraising goals.
  • Designs campaigns to target specific audiences (donors, community partners, volunteers etc), placing an emphasis and discipline on campaign performance to help with recommendations for future programs.
  • Contributes ideas for WRWW communications, researching and recommending innovative branding techniques.
  • Provides hands-on advertising support for development team, outreach and programs, paying close attention to timelines.
  • Identifies and presents opportunities for consistency in messaging and donor/partners experience across channels from signage to digital to print.
  • Develops an understanding of short- and long-term development/fundraising goals and planned initiatives.
  • Adjusts and communicates plan changes as necessary to ensure costs for materials, media, etc are in line with the fundraising budget and goals.
  • Works with Director of Strategic Advancement to take the pulse of World Relief Western Washington to identify cross-marketing opportunities.
  • Stays informed of developments in the field of marketing and communications to foster ideas and innovation.
  • Coordinating volunteer talent such as graphic designers or photographers as needed
  • Coordinating volunteers, interns, and staff to prepare mailings – as needed
  • Managing mailing permit and compliance with the Business Mail Entry Unit (BMEU) and USPS -Researching – and potentially overseeing the transition to – a mailing house option as required by organizational growth
  • Oversee digital communications including:
  • Collaborating with the Director of Strategic Advancement to write and schedule email campaigns -Reviewing and updating the website in collaboration with the western Washington team.
  • Managing and approving content and brand across social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, while tracking the metrics to support informed marketing decisions. -Serving as the primary responder to public inquiries through social media
  • Create marketing materials for development, program and outreach staff as needed
  • Write or edit other stories, blogs, articles, or blurbs as needed  Event support – 20%
  • Design and print collateral and swag on an as-needed basis (banners, thank you cards, shirts, water bottles, summer wear, winter wear, etc.)
  • Oversee multi-channel marketing for World Relief Western Washington Fundraising and Program Events  Story Stewardship – 5%   
  • Champion high ethical standards for storytelling that honor the agency and dignity of every person in the World Relief community
  • Collaborate with programs to collect stories and photos from participants; with express permission of the participants
  • Manage the media library (photos, videos, and brand assets)
  • Oversee media release process, including creating better processes for informed and ongoing consent
  • Respond to internal or external requests for photos or other media files

  • Strong communication skills, understanding of basic marketing, and donor development strategies
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to transform a big picture plan to actionable steps
  • Proactive approach to work tasks and interpersonal communication and the ability to take initiative, prioritize projects, and delegate
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage competing priorities and set SMART goals
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, adapt to changing goals, and solicit input from others
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity and a commitment to telling stories in a way that maintains the dignity, agency, and confidentiality of the story owners.
  • Lived immigrant experience or fluency in another language preferred


Requirements
  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
  • Excellent written communication in English, with a strong grasp of technical skills (e.g. spelling and grammar) as well as the ability to write creative and compelling narratives
  • Fluency in social media marketing and familiarity with multi-channel campaigns
  • Graphic design /Content Creation ability required, experience with Adobe creative suite preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience in marketing, public relations, communications, design, or a related field

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

 

·         General office setting. World Relief also offers hybrid and remote schedules for limited positions.

·         Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in virtual meetings may be required.

·         Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending.
