ESL Specialist

This position is primarily responsible for building out a network of ESL partners that focus on English for everyday life, work and school situations. The position helps move students through referrals and tutor training for long-term stability and healthy integration by helping them quickly gain the practical skills necessary for the integration and employment.

• Develop a network of ESL partners in Greenville and Spartanburg Counties
• Refer refugee and immigrant clients to English learning opportunities
• Assist with student enrollment in ESL programs
• Support WR Upstate SC's volunteer ESL tutor team
• Report English learning activities to the Resettlement and Employment case managers
• Follow up with students, tutors, and ESL partners to confirm ongoing participating in ESL programming
• Support ESL partner organizations through resource development, training, consulting, and ongoing problem solving
• Build and strengthen new and ongoing relationships with ESL community partners 

• Self-starter who takes initiative and can plan, achieve goals with minimal supervision
• Must be organized with attention to detail -
• Collaborative team member with and eagerness to work together with a team, both within the World Relief organization and community partners
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
• Sensitivity to the development stages and well-being of ELL's
• Experience in English teaching, curriculum development, and program coordination preferred
• Excellent computer skills, including fluency with Microsoft Office and Outlook, as well as ability to manage data
• Cross-cultural experience preferred 

• Mature and personal Christian faith

• Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
• Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document

·         While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations

·         The ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-15 pounds.

·         Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information.

·         The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

·         General office setting. World Relief also offers hybrid and remote schedules for limited positions.

·         Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in virtual meetings may be required.

·         Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending.
