The Host Home Coordinator oversees and coordinates World Relief Seattle’s volunteer host home program in support of our local office and work. This role provides training, support, and resources to volunteers temporarily hosting refugee, asylee, and other immigrant guests in their home, and coordinates with local staff and guests through the hosting process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee the host home program, matching new refugee/asylee arrivals in need of temporary housing with vetted host home volunteers in coordination with resettlement staff
- Directly support host home volunteers, providing them with ongoing training, resources, and development opportunities
- Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and Outreach Team to train, support, and supervise host home volunteers, matching them with refugees, asylee, or other immigrant participants as temporary guests
- Make in-person introductions when possible (virtual when necessary) and follow up regularly with WR staff and hosts to ensure ongoing relationships of mutuality and trust
- Manage host home training and documentation, including volunteer hours, keeping up to date with organizational policies and onboarding documents
- Communicate between volunteers and participants, referring them to internal or external resources and services, as appropriate
- Create and implement program evaluation tools to measure volunteer and participant experience
- Collaborate with other WR offices to stay up to date on host home best practices and training
- Train and support WR staff interacting with host home volunteers
- Assist with other temporary housing like Airbnb or hotels as needed
- Assist the Volunteer Coordinator and Outreach Team with general trainings and program activities as needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Volunteer or program management experience preferred
- Intermediate computer knowledge, including MS Office and the ability to learn new programs
- Flexibility in schedule required (meetings with volunteers often fall outside normal business hours)
- Initiative and ability to work independently
- Organized and able to manage competing priorities
- Interpersonal Skills
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
REQUIREMENTS:
- Mature and personal Christian faith
- Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively with people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
- Familiarity with trauma informed responses and cultural humility
- Flexible schedule for some evening and weekend host home placements
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Current driver’s license required
