Director of Payroll

PURPOSEManage, direct, and coordinate the activities of the payroll function for the organization. Provides direction and leadership on all matters regarding the organization’s payroll activities, including strategic and payroll processing objectives. Provides the vision, strategic planning and coordination of payroll processes and systems to manage complex challenges while championing service excellence. You will operate as the subject matter expert on all payroll processes including multi-state payroll, equity, acquisitions, maintaining SOX controls and ensuring compliance with all US and international payroll requirements. Works closely with cross-functional departments and key stakeholders across the business to ensures and advise on payroll business practices. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Oversees all aspects of payroll process such as accurate processing, reconciliation, and recordkeeping of multi-state payroll• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices• Performs analysis and report generation and assists the Finance, HR, and Legal teams with special projects• Resolves escalated payroll issues and/or discrepancies within the business• Collaboratively works with cross-functional management and teams to ensure employee and company objectives are met• Lead for payroll related projects, including continuous development of processes that support company growth• Submits monthly payroll statements and reporting for state and federal compliance• Up to date on new and upcoming legislation changes as it impacts the company’s payroll processes and systems• Responsible for training, development, and general management of direct reports• Ensures the payroll team is consistently maintaining excellent service to the business• Responsible for all department and process audits. Owns and resolves findings. • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing systems and procedures.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES• Experience processing payroll for over 3,000 employees• Deep knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including payroll tax, reporting, and required filings.• Strong knowledge of HRIS systems and related technology, experience with Ceridian preferredQUALIFICATIONS:• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field• Master’s degree preferred• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Certification strongly preferred• 10 years of payroll experience including multi-state payroll & taxes, equity, and high-volume payroll processing, including both exempt and non-exempt workforces.• 6 years of Payroll management leadership experience
