Responsibilities:

Worley is currently seeking a Logistics Manager (Barge Master) who would be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of barges and other waterborne vessels. They are responsible for reviewing the operation of vessels in all navigable waters. The Barge Master must ensure that the vessels are compliant with all necessary regulations and laws, and that the crew are adequately trained and supervised. They must also ensure that the vessels are operated in a safe and responsible manner and that all necessary safety precautions are taken during voyage management activities. The Barge Master must also be aware of local weather conditions and river traffic. This position is reportable to the Project Construction Director focusing on Marine Traffic operations for the Venture Global CP2 Project located in Cameron Parish, Louisiana USA. The position is technically supported by the Regional Senior Manager of Logistics.

The purpose of a Barge Master is to oversee the safe and efficient operation of barges, vessels, and other water-borne traffic within the inland Calcasieu Waterway in support of the Venture Global CP2 Project. This includes reviewing and approving navigation plans, advising on sea-fastening plans.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the safe and efficient traffic operations of tugs and barges, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Collaborate to maintain the day-to day schedule and activities associated with planned marine traffic utilizing Tug and Barge services.
  • Monitor vessel performance, fuel consumption, and maintenance requirements and record applicable details that affect cost increase
  • Provide review of design proposals and specifications to establish basic characteristics of vessels Develop sectional and waterline curves of the vessel hull to establish the center of gravity, the ideal hull form, and data on buoyancy and stability.
  • Coordinate with relevant authorities and stakeholders during emergency situations to ensure the safety of personnel, vessels, and the environment.
  • Collaborate with vessel crews on operational matters, safety protocols, and emergency response procedures.
  • Liaise with port authorities, terminal operators, river pilots and other stakeholders to ensure smooth Marine operations, including vessel arrivals, departures, and cargo handling collaboration.

Qualifications and Key Competencies:

  • University Degree or equivalent in related field or applicable discipline; or equivalent relevant experience. 20 ( ) years in Marine Transportation, Nautical Science, or a related field (preferred).
  • Advanced English level
  • Knowledge of commercial river transportation and logistics practices, processes, USCG and Homeland security regulatory requirements and standards
  • Keen safety awareness and aware of OSAH 3358 01N standards and familiar with 29 CFR Part 1918 regarding Longshoring activities
  • Excellent communicator
  • Operates well in multi-company team environment
  • Prompt and driven Program development
  • Effective execution of and management of marine related traffic & logistics, (including but not limited to, safety and ethics)
  • Effective supervision of change activity to assure adequate protection of the company against potential claims
  • Effectiveness of relationships with suppliers, management, construction, customers, support organizations, and project team members (to include Client Representatives).
  • Has strong communications skills both written and verbal.
  • Is able to effectively author internal and external communications, and reports
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with clients and interact with operations, project, and construction management as part of an execution Team

Work place

  • Calcasieu / Cameron Parish, Louisiana/ U.S. Gulf Coast - (Jobsite Locations) May be required to attend load in operations at Fabricators facilities located in the Gulf Coast Region.
