What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire & Gas Detection Tech. Level 4 (Rotational Schedule) - Prudhoe Bay, AK position at Worley?
This is a remote/ rotational position, working two weeks on and two weeks off, in Prudhoe Bay, AK. The typical schedule is 84 hours per week (40 hours straight time and a minimum of 44 hours at time and a half). All meals and lodging are provided by Worley while the employee is on location. Transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided.
Job Purpose:
The Fire and Gas Detection Technician will test, inspect, calibrate and maintain fire and gas related equipment as well as interface with instrumentation equipment affecting process areas. Occasional repair and installation of fire and gas related equipment is required.
Essential Job Functions:
- Calibrate, adjust, makes minor repairs to, and install fire and gas equipment.
- Record and evaluate test data.
- Perform functional testing, including the interface to process control and shutdown systems.
- Uses and cares for tools and equipment employed to perform calibration and testing such as digital / analog multi-meters, gas calibration devices, thermocouple calibrators, signal generators, leak detection units, oscilloscopes, and manufacturer’s specialized test equipment.
- Examine work and materials for compliance with job and safety specifications.
- Job setup, including selecting proper tools, equipment and materials.
- Attend various components of technical, developmental and safety training.
- Promote safe work practices and implement company and client safety policies
- for work crew, including proper hazard recognition and mitigation.
- Demonstrate support for the company's environmental management system.
- Safely operate company owned vehicles including pick trucks and box vans.
- Follow verbal/written directions from the Crew Lead and Foreman.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge and thorough understanding of Fire Alarm and detection system installation, maintenance, and testing.
- Ability to use tools and equipment applicable to Fire and Gas related work.
- Able to read and interpret drawings, specifications, vendor data, and technical data sheets, etc.
- Able to demonstrate general knowledge of: NFPA Standards, the Alaska Administrative Code, and OSHA safe work practices associated with safety systems; The functional operation, maintenance, and repair of fire & gas detection systems such as fire detection devices, smoke detection devices, gas detection devices, notification appliances, fire, and gas control logic, etc.
- Knowledge of Hilcorp and Worley specifications and standards, ASH standards and all applicable Hilcorp and Worley procedures and policies.
- Proficient in computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access and client software programs.
- Well versed in general operations and safety practices and policies, as well as specific knowledge of procedures and standards applicable to the Fire and Gas craft technical and safety policies.
- Ability to communicate clear direction to work crews, management, and client representatives.
- Advanced leadership skills.
- Ability to effectively manage and lead Detection Technicians.
- Ability to work as part of a team; communicate effectively with fellow workers and alternate.
- Ability to demonstrate adherence to established safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to demonstrate support for the company’s environmental management system.

Qualifications:
- 4 years’ experience in fire suppression systems, inspecting and maintenance.
- Must have one of the following State of Alaska Fire Systems Permits: 1B, 1C or NICET.
- Must possess or obtain State of Alaska Level III Fire extinguisher permit within 90 days of hire.
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Valid driver's license and the ability to be covered by Worley auto insurer.
- North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC). Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- RAT Certification.
- Two (2) years Fire and Gas experience in the petrochemical industry or experience in hazardous locations.
- Two (2) years North Slope arctic work experience.
- Also have State of Alaska Fire Systems Permit; 3B, 3C, or NICET.
- Blower Fan Door testing experience.
Salary : $50,500 - $64,000
