What are the responsibilities and job description for the HFC Project Manager position at WOW!?
The Hybrid Fiber Coax Project Manager is responsible for the development and documentation of standards and processes within the HFC Access Network. This role develops and tracks KPI’s that measure the performance and capacity of the networks that deliver services to our customers. The Project Manager –HFC informs and influences the direction of WOW’s HFC design and architecture through strong technical and project management leadership and excellent partnerships with vendors, and internal cross-functional partners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:
- Establish and maintain strong communication and working relationship with all internal and external customers to align the HFC architecture and design strategy with the needs of the business and our customers
- Find and organize performance data to create KPI’s for the networkCreate and maintain a playbook that effectively documents WOW’s HFC strategy, processes and includes estimated costs, manpower estimates and delivery plans and timelines
- Develop and maintain a construction manual to assist in vendor oversight and management of construction expenses
- Develop and maintain documentation of our existing HFC network assets
- Consolidate fiber and coax records and track capacity
- Provide input and support to WOW’s GIS team updating and documenting HFC records for sharing with internal customers
- Track network augmentations as they occur and update the HFC asset database
- Recommend strategies to senior management for the tracking and management of our HFC Access network
- Work collaboratively with teams and vendors to develop standards and product recommendations for the HFC network
- Develop newbuild and brownfield design strategies to address growth and cost-efficiency
- Develop budgets for the HFC Access network capacity and augmentations
- Create and maintain HFC Playbook as strategies and processes are defined documenting estimated costs and defining project timelines
- Other duties as assigned

-Education:
Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or 5-7 year’s related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Computer Skills:
Word processing, spreadsheets, Internet software, email, inventory, contact management
-Experience/Skills Needed:
- 5-7 years related work experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively cross-functionally and with vendors.
- General knowledge of DOCSIS and xPON access platforms.
- General knowledge of Remote PHY and Distributed Access Architectures, DAA.
- Ability to read AutoCAD maps.
- Familiarity with LODE Data, ArcGIS Viewer. MapInfo, and Google Earth.
- Ability to quickly learn and utilize unfamiliar software applications.
