As we continue on this journey…. a vacancy has arisen for a talented individual to join our Technology function in NYC as a Systems Engineer. Reporting to the Systems Engineering Team Lead/Manager, this exciting role will be responsible for all aspects of IT system engineering across Hogarth Worldwide. It includes innovation and greenfield IT systems design but is also a hands-on position involving the provisioning, installation, operation, and maintenance of Global Hogarth servers in our existing and future estate. The ideal candidate should find the challenge of improving the management and disposition of existing infrastructure as rewarding as working on blue sky projects.
What you'll be doing:
• Provide technical leadership to the broader systems engineering and production engineering teams in EMEA, APAC and AMER.
• Training and mentoring other systems administration staff as needed
• Lead the implementation of regional IT & global scope Infrastructure projects
• Document internal IT process and procedures
• Attend and lead technical departmental meetings
• Liaise with third party suppliers and vendors as required.
• Maintain, optimise and upgrade Hogarth WW global VMWare vSphere estate
• Perform routine audits of systems and software
• Manage and resolve IT and Systems technical media production issues as they arise.
• Ensure efficient and reliable backup and archives are made and maintained across on prem and cloud.
• Develop and maintain installation, configuration and DR procedures.
• Contribute to and maintain system standards and patterns.
• Maintain and improve hardware and software performance monitoring systems.
• Ensure all systems are integrated into the global management, monitoring and performance testing systems
• Performance reporting and support capacity planning
• Perform on-going performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimisation as required
• Analyse problematic systems and identify causes and rectify issues (L2/L3 escalations).
• Ensure security standards and best practices are adhered to.
• Ensure regular software and hardware maintenance is performed with minimum downtime.
• Repair and recover hardware and software failures
• Deploy and configure new hardware and software services as required, both on prem and in cloud.
• Maintain and refresh operational, configuration and other procedures.
• Responsibility for documentation on the configuration, maintenance and operation of systems.
• Build and maintain data centre and testing lab environments
• Ensure availability of all critical infrastructure systems 24/7 and that all service levels are met or exceeded
What you'll need:
• 3 years MS Windows system administration.
• 3 years Linux systems administration.
• 3 years performing enterprise-level project work in a large environment
• 3 years experience with server virtualization.
• MS SQL Server administration and clustering.
• Windows Server clustering and load-balancing.
• Ubuntu and Centos admin experience.
• Enterprise level OS X server and client Administration.
• Ability to manage multiple, high-priority projects.
• Facility in a scripting language such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell
• Experience in administrating and automating Windows domain structures and Active Directory.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to mentor and share technical knowledge with team members.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work to ensure service level agreements are met.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to learn quickly.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability and desire to take ownership, seeing tasks and projects through to satisfaction and completion.
