SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for an ALERT Service Center Technical Manager to provide seasoned lab management and personnel leadership, overseeing our advanced life-cycle electronics repair, modification, testing, maintenance, and equipment calibration team.
Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee and ensure that the ALERT Lab is operating smoothly by scheduling staff, reordering supplies, tracking and reporting work activity running within the lab, maintaining safety protocols, and operating within alignment of organizational and industry standards.
- Utilize managerial skills, lab safety know-how, as well as skilled technical experience to ensure the timely, efficient, and high standard of quality activity is completed on time.
- Take responsibility for all activities within the lab, which includes tracking and monitoring work activities, reporting status and completions, monitoring work schedules or personnel and ensuring work activities are completed on time with top quality.
- Oversee technical personnel providing goals and metrics to achieve success, as well as providing accountability to work performance.
- Work with production control to ensure job orders are setup up correctly, being maintained, materials have a steady flow, and job completions are updated and statuses reported.
- Provide oversight and ensure lab leads assist with on-the-job training to varying levels of technicians.
- Provide status inputs to Project and Program Managers.
- Responsible for the lab operating costs and provide budget forecasts for lab operating costs to Program and Operations Manager.
- Provide input for staffing resources and plans to Program and Operations Manager.
- Provide input to technical proposal support and write ups.
- Analyze and interpret test data.
- Oversee calibration activities and ensure a working program is in place for tracking and calibrating all test equipment across the organization.
- Maintain and continuously seek improvements upon working environment/lab for maximum efficiency, quality, cleanliness, and capabilities.
- Ability to perform technical activities as required.
- Self-driven and works well in a fast-paced environment.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Associate’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or similar;
- OR completion of formal resident trade school or apprentice program in electronics;
- OR completion of at least two (2) U.S. Navy “C” schools in electronic equipment or systems.
- Eight (8) years of progressive experience performing work in support of production, integration, installation, repair, troubleshooting, or maintenance of systems or equipment.
- Four (4) years of progressive experience as a technician performing work, which required advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems, a detailed understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, 2M repair, and exercising independent judgment in performing tasks.
- Three (3) years of managerial or supervisory experience over personnel.
- Two (2) years of experience providing technical guidance to lower level technicians performing work in support of installation, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electronic systems or equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience may be substituted in lieu of degree depending on contractual requirements.
