TECHNICAL MANAGER - FIRST SHIFT
Summary of Position Responsibilities:
Supports customers, internal and external with regards to new and existing product development, current productivity and quality issues, design consultations, manufacturing feasibility, and tool programs. Provides support to estimating for engineering changes and new programs. Provides analysis and action plans to resolve program problems and customer issues.
Manages maintenance, toolroom, and manufacturing technical personnel. Actively helps develop sub-contract tooling sources. Assist with complex machine and equipment repairs. Searches for cost effective solutions to equipment repairs.
Takes a leadership role in the specification and procurement of manufacturing machinery and support equipment.
Takes a leadership role in process development, layout analysis, and production mold adjustment during the PPAP process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for Process development, new mold trials, and program PPAP approval.
- Identify projects and follow through implementation.
- Lead manufacturing with corrections to resolve productivity problems and quality issues.
- Leads the technical continuous improvement process.
- Support manufacturing and technical personnel through training and development.
- Develop and follows Quality management systems (QMS) standards communicating any deviations. Participates in QMS auditing.
- Specify/ Order machinery and support equipment to achieve project goals, budget, and timeline.
- Communicate effectively with management team in support of day-to-day activities required to meet customer expectations.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 -10 years’ experience managing projects.
- 5 -10 years process development and troubleshooting experience.
- 5 -10 years maintenance and troubleshooting experience in hydraulic, electric, and pneumatic systems.
- 5 -10 years tool construction and repair experience
- Tooling estimating experience
- 2 years product design review for manufacturability
Other Requirements:
Physically, Performing the duties of the Engineering Manager’s position will require regular use of hands
fingers to handle, feel and talk or hear. This position is also required to stand walk sit and reach with hands
and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel crouch, or crawl.
Occasional lifting of up to 50lbs with regular lifting of up to 10lbs will be required. Specific vision abilities
required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception,
and ability to adjust focus.
Flexibility, this position requires flexibility with special situations that may require after regular hours phone
calls or assignments. Some overnight or same day business travel may be required.
