What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forklift operator 1st position at WSI?
We are hiring for a full-time 1st Shift Monday through Friday 9 : 00am 5 : 00pm Forklift Operator to provide safe and efficient material handling to support customer needs.
This full-time benefitted position will report to the facility manager and supervisor. It also may occasionally require weekends, holidays, and overtime.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Safely inspect, unload, and put away product from inbound trailers via lift truck.
- Operate a lift truck to pick orders and load product onto trailers.
- Utilize all material handling technology to maximize efficiency and maintain accurate inventory.
- Utilize all computer functions to generate orders for picks, shipments, confirming orders, etc.
- Utilize all computer functions to generate BOL’s, receipts, inventory, etc.
- Ensure all safety and standard operating procedures are followed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
- Reliable transportation to report to scheduled shift and travel between facilities, as needed.
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills to ensure accurate counts and paperwork.
- Ability to operate technology equipment if needed and to manage inventory.
- Have working knowledge of different computer systems, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Previous knowledge or a desire to learn about the product being handled.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow instructions and follow through on assigned tasks and responsibilities.
- Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and written.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- Lift truck experience; loading and unloading trailers.
- Experience working in warehouse environment is a plus.
- Experience operating lift truck attachments such as forks and double-wide forks.
- Experience operating sit-down lift truck.
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS :
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time through hot and cold temperatures.
- Ability to repetitively twist or turn to drive in reverse; stand, climb, kneel, reach, stoop and squat, as needed.
- Ability to turn steering wheel on lift truck requiring full rotation of arms and shoulders.
- Ability to run facility when Supervisor is out of office.
- Must be willing and able to safely lift up to 60 pounds.
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniforms that are provided by the company.
