This Opportunity

The Virginia Claims Administrator implements a claims administration program across all Virginia Louis Berger asset maintenance projects. The position is responsible for initiating claims against responsible parties, tracking the claim lifecycle, and following through until payment of the claim. The position will also be responsible for tracking and administering tort claims brought against the company for projects.

Your Impact

The Claims Administrator will be a part of a leadership team responsible for the successful execution of projects and recovery of third-party claims. The position reports to the Claims Supervisor and works with project teams to collect documentation and pursue claims against responsible third parties. Primary duties and responsibilities are as follows.

  • Implements the overall claims administration program for Louis Berger’s asset maintenance projects; accountable for the work activity of the LBS third party claims program.
  • Supervises and directs the work activities of a claim specialist. Guide Claims Administration by coordinating activities and answering questions.
  • Communicates with the Claims Supervisor on third party work status and tort claims and issues.
  • Prepares documents as required to settle claims and receive payments from third parties.  
  • Receives, audits, and maintains the claim documentation packet from field crews which outlines accidents that have damaged client property, e.g., transportation assets.
    • Collection of data to include:
    • Incident/Accident Report
    • Police Report
    • Statement of Charges
    • Pictures, if applicable
    • Costs Incurred
  • Coordinates with Project Managers, Office Managers, Administrators, and field crews to ensure consistent and timely collection of data.
  • Train personnel on proper data gathering requirements and claims process. Identify trends and their impact on the claims process. Research contacts and B2B best practices. Research and implement efficiencies.
  • Initiates claims against responsible parties and presents them to the responsible insurance company.
  • Monitors and responds to ongoing questions or requests for additional information.
  • Arranges for payment options with uninsured/under-insured parties.
  • Works with internal accounting departments to receive and post claim payments.
  • Provides reports to track third party payments monthly to project management staff.
  • Receives, tracks and coordinates tort claims received against the company from external parties. Works with internal and external legal counsel as required to resolve claims and mitigate risk to the company.
  • Documents actions by accessing and entering data into the computer-based maintenance management system.
  • Utilize software, data bases and tools appropriately and with maximum efficiency.
  • Continue education to extend knowledge of company and position.
  • Remain calm and professional during stressful situations.
  • Preempts legal challenges by conducting duties in compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements.
  • Conduct duties and responsibilities in an ethical manner; maintain LBS’s integrity standard by adhering to the Company’s Code of Business Conduct. 
  • Carry out all duties in line with Company policies and procedures as amended from time to time.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a high School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 4 – 6 years' experience in fast-paced, multi-faceted environment. Collections preferred.
  • Demonstrate familiarity and knowledge of state Traffic Management Center (TMC), insurance, claims and recovery processes.
  • Demonstrates strong innovative and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess analytical mindset and excel without supervision.
  • Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete a high volume of work and manage multiple claims at the same time with decisiveness, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Strong typing skills, to include 10-key data entry.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Suite Software: Outlook, Excel, Teams.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Contribute to a strong relationship through positive interaction.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with leadership and staff across all functional areas of the business.
  • Ability to work with subcontractors to ensure the correct information is received to efficiently process claims.
  • Must be inquisitive and persistent.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong pattern recognition and memory.
  • Must be adaptable and flexible.
  • Willing to travel on occasion and collaborate with project teams on camera while working remotely, i.e., from home office or field.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate’s start date.

Compensation and Benefits

Louis Berger Services, Inc. is focused on providing health and financial stability throughout an employee’s career. Expected Salary: $55,000 - $65,000
 
LBS is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the Company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. LBS reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s status protected by local, state, or federal law. 

Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
