WSP is currently initiating a search for a Construction Inspector for our Nashville Airport field office. Be involved in projects with our Aviation and PMCM Teams and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
As part of the Nashville Airport Authority's Capital Improvement Program, WSP is seeking a Construction Inspector to assist in the delivery of construction projects within the Nashville Airport Authority's Development and Engineering Department. Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Construction Inspector will perform detailed inspections, provide recommendations, perform administrative items, and coordinate inspection activities for building, tenant renovation, maintenance, or other construction projects for the Airport Authority. The Construction Inspector will insure compliance with plans, specifications, building codes and related laws and regulations, including safety and serve as a mentor to other construction inspection staff.
Your Impact
- A combination of education and directly related experience equal to five (5) years in construction activities related to building inspection.
- Ability to communicated effectively with team members and audiences that include but not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors and visitors
- Ability to lead, learn and apply knowledge of applicable local / state and federal codes, statues and guidelines.
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time conscious and time-effective manner.
- Perform physical inspection of variety of discipline activities which may include but not limited to: concrete, buildings, electrical, HVAC and insulation.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a quality inspector
- Experience with pre-placement (forms, embeds and reinforcement), concrete placement
- Technical Associates Degree
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Highly familiar with construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, process, methods and techniques.
- Highly familiar with relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
- Sound self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Analytical mindset to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
- Ability to provide input and feedback to others in the field such as subcontractors and work colleagues to consistently complete tasks safely, efficiently, and accurately according to specifications.
- Intermediate or expert computer and software skills to include use of Microsoft Office Suite and Windows.
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Ability to work well with others to include team members
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
- Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
- This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree
- Knowledge and experience in airport operations and construction
- Certification by recognized authority
