WSP is currently initiating a search for a Electrical Design Engineer for our One Penn Plaza- New York City, New York office. Be involved in projects with our Properties & Buildings Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

Our work is embedded in the residences we live in, the healthcare facilities we rely on for routine medical procedures to life saving feats of medicine, the skyscrapers and buildings we work in, and the operations of our buildings.  We work closely with architects and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment. Our Engineers work on high quality, high-profile, national and international projects. You will actively participate in the full project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out. WSP offers excellent growth opportunities.
 

Your Impact

• Work within multi-discipline project teams to develop drawings and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors and building owners
• Coordinate design activities with other multi-discipline project team members
• Design of electric distribution systems
• Design of fire alarm systems
• Design of lighting and lighting control systems
• Scheduling and selecting of electrical components and equipment
• Perform electrical load, short circuit and voltage drop calculations
• Construction administration
• Write technical reports summarizing research with findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using sketches, calculations, electronic systems, spreadsheets, and software.
• Work collaboratively with other engineers and planners on projects with electrical infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects. 
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• 1 years of experience designing electrical systems for Building Systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
• Familiarity with building, electrical and energy codes
• Interest in innovative design, specifically in renewable energies and sustainable, high performing buildings
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• EIT License is a plus
• LEED AP certification is a plus
• Experience in commercial (core and shell high rise and fitout) and residential type projects
• Knowledge of AGI32 and SKM is a plus

Compensation and Benefits:

WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.

Expected Salary: $61,700 - $108,200
