This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Structural Engineer for our Providence, RI office. Be involved in projects with our Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. This full-time position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in Undergraduate or Graduate program with an anticipated graduation date of May 2024.
Your Impact
The position is an exciting opportunity to perform structural design on multiple discipline civil engineering (structural, site/civil, highway, transportation, rail, MEP, etc.) in support of heavy highway and rail design and construction projects:
- Preliminary and final design and construction support services for Rhode Island Department of Transportation and Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority projects
- Design and Design-Build projects for Massachusetts Department of Transportation and Connecticut Department of Transportation working directly with the agency or with contractors.
- Design for major bridge and station facility projects for New England and Northeast Transportation Agencies
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil or Structural Engineering, or related, Bachelors, Masters or PhD program.
- Fundementals of Engineering (FE) Certification or the ability to immediately obtain.
- Demonstrated interest in Structural, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Authorization to work in the United States immediately.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior internship or engineering related experience or leadership involvement on campus.
- Basic Cadd skills using AutoCAD or MicroStation or related software.
- Exposure to structural design programs.
*Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements or coordination with adjacent offices.
