WSP is currently initiating a search for an Engineering Planning Project Manager, Transit and Rail to serve as a Senior Project Manager on complex transit and rail projects throughout the United States. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated candidates located across multiple geographies, including New York, NY, Chicago, IL, Dallas, TX or Denver, CO with experience leading a multi-disciplinary project team in the delivery of challenging comprehensive development projects that range in technical requirements from planning through design and PMCM. The primary responsibilities include managing the client relationship, leading teams of advisors, planners, engineers and support staff providing technical leadership for planning, conceptual through detailed design, cost estimating, and a variety of other tasks and duties. The role will also include responsibility for budget, schedule, quality and team deliverables, as well as collaboration within project and stakeholder teams and management/coordination with our internal teams.
The selected candidate is required to have experience related to the planning and design elements of transit and rail projects and will act as a program manager, with the need to step in and self-perform tasks, if necessary, in a fast-paced and potentially critical project environment.
Your Impact
- Manage a team responsible for a variety of engineering and planning tasks for transit and rail development projects requiring independent judgment
- Responsible for coordination with the full range of relevant disciplines, including transit, rail, operations, and other disciplines
- Responsible for preparation of project reports, plans, specifications, and estimate bid packages
- Ensure that production of reports and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements
- Interact with clients, and lead technical meetings
- Lead others and supervise the production of junior and mid-level staff
- Provide discipline leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams and contribute to providing high level strategic advice to clients.
- Provides performance guidance and leadership to assigned managers and staff.
- Remain current in latest transit and rail planning and engineering subject matter, practices, regulations, and techniques.
- Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide “trusted advisor” service and future ready solutions for clients.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Engineering, Project Management or related field from an accredited program (or equivalent experience.)
- 15 years of experience in the management, planning, design and construction phases of infrastructure or development projects.
- Commercial, contractual and negotiation skills.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
- Capable, dedicated and proven leader that is a self-starter that holds themselves accountable for project delivery
- Capacity to continually function effectively while incurring long hours, extended duration travel, and co-location with clients outside of traditional office environment.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to travel over 25% and within client offices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in related subject.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) accreditation.
- Essential professional licensure/certification.

Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $129,300 - $332,100
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
Expected Salary (Colorado only): $170,800 - $324,500
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
