Information Systems Consultant

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full Time Information Systems Consultant for our Austin office.  The following locations will also be considered: remote.

Your Impact

• Develop research reports based on analysis of current practices in data management (how data is created, structured, exchanged) 
• Investigates data architectures used to create various data models in design, construction and asset management phase
• Investigates data management standards and best practices, including data management tools and technology innovations
• Supports development of presentations, white papers, workshop/webinar material and marketing collateral related to asset data management research
• Conducts meetings with transportation agencies to understand how agencies manage data. i.e., how they use various systems to create data models and how data is extracted, transformed and exchanged across systems
• Develop research project status reports, executive summary writeups

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• PhD with research focus on Information Systems and 5 years of experience in transportation data systems used at DOTs during asset life cycle (particularly design, construction and asset management). 
• Knowledge of data management, data governance frameworks, concepts, standards, best practices, terms and definitions. Focus on transportation sector preferred
• Develops data management strategy by investigating client data systems, existing data tools and practices, business use cases/processes 
• Experience building/working with enterprise data warehouses, document repositories with understanding of what data from various agency systems is brought over to such common data environments
• Proven ability to manage discussions with transportation agencies and structure/plan/direct a research investigation in these discussions
• Experience with data management standards, specifically those associated with data modeling, exchange and how data is provisioned across stakeholders and enterprise software systems using modern tools and techniques

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud-based data management systems (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure): policies, standards, governance, architecture
• Experience developing application programming interfaces (APIs), API Tools/Platforms (e.g.: Mulesoft etc.)
• Journal and White Paper Publications in the realm of Information systems management
