Job Summary
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Lead Consultant, Communications Engineer for our New York, NY office. The following locations will also be considered: Newark, NJ; and Valhalla, NY. Be involved in projects with our Transit and Rail Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
- Leads with the design process for low voltage systems, including public address, fiber and copper cabling, security systems (access control/video surveillance) and communications for transit and rail/transportation facilities projects
- Draws on experience in A/E design process to produce final constructible plans, specifications and engineering cost estimate.
- Act as a Task Lead on projects, medium to high complexity and provides direction for projects
- Stays abreast of industry changes and requirements, policies, procedures and legislation
- Ablility to travel or perform occasional field surveys
- Strong understanding of scope, schedule and budget
- Assist with development of other engineers and transfer of technical knowledge/skills
- Must be able to perform a detailed comparison of the design drawings against the contract requirements.
- Analyzes project task needs, changes and enhancements and makes recommendations.
- Prepares and gives briefings and presentations, advise senior management.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 7 to 10 years of transportation engineering or relevant post education experience in engineering and prior transit and rail experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation and REVIT
- Technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
- The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering.
- Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.
- Experience managing small to mid-size projects.
- 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
- Experience with low voltage system design.
- EIT or Profession registration, PE.
- Familiarity with NY area transportation agencies such as Amtrak, LIRR, MetroNorth, NJT, NYCT, PANYNJ and their technical approach.

Compensation
Expected Salary: $69,600 - $157,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
