This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior/Lead Roadway Engineer/Project Manager for our Columbia, SC office. This role provides situational guidance to PMs and managers that address current and future challenges, and that documentation and recommendations accurately account for and address risk, innovation, and future-ready opportunities. Provides leadership with ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Your Impact
- Ensure that production of specifications, reports and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements and are commensurate with professional standards, client requirements and corporate objectives.
- Provide coordination with other design disciplines and remote office locations, including: Planning, Environmental, Roadway, Structures, Hydraulics/Drainage and Traffic.
- Manage projects and maintain schedule, budget, and profitability of assigned projects, overseeing preparation of plans, specifications, proposals and RFC packages.
- Represent WSP USA in assigned locations, markets, and industry associations.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 10 or more years of relevant post education experience in roadway design and SCDOT transportation/infrastructure projects.
- Engineer license required.
- Proficient with civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
- Familiarity with design applications such as Microstation, OpenRoads.
- Demonstrated creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment, and successfully managing multiple projects and task assignments, relying upon experience in design quality control programs
- Experience preparing, managing and reviewing project deliverables including planning, design and construction documents, project reports, environmental studies, cost estimates, scopes of work, proposals, etc.
- Demonstrated experience with State and local governments, contractors, transportation agencies, etc.
- Extensive knowledge of infrastructure design.
- Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including active involvement in a variety of rehabilitation, new design, and construction projects.
- Well-defined specific knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Well-developed ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
- Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. #LI-JA1
