This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a GIS/CAD Specialist for our Nashville, TN office working for the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA).Be involved in projects with our Program Management/Construction Management Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact:
The Geographic Information Systems (GIS)/Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) Specialist is responsible for maintaining enterprise-wide data collection and editing, as well as conducting data conversion, application support, and database maintenance. Other responsibilities include coordinating GIS activities between different groups and pushing projects through to completion. GIS/CAD Specialist is responsible for obtaining and entering data related to modifications to the airfield, building facilities, and underground facilities into the CADD system. Other responsibilities include maintaining CADD equipment, master files, and facility record drawings, as well as all architectural components derived from Building Information Modeling (BIM) sources, for coordination into the Airport’s Geographic Information System (GIS) program.
Essential Job Responsibilities Included (but not limited to):

Data conversion and manipulation from CAD and BIM

Support the attainment of necessary data from CAD and BIM
-
Prepares architectural/engineering drawings for alteration or expansion projects

Maintains CAD master file inventory and historical facility record drawings
-
Exports CAD drawings from BIM to incorporate updates into CADD master files to reflect current, as-built conditions

Create metadata for spatial datasets

Maintain utility spatial datasets
-
Maintain architectural spatial datasets
-
Maintain civil spatial datasets
-
Produce maps per request of D&E Staff
-
Ensure data integrity from GIS editors within D&E or other MNAA editors

Assist maintaining and troubleshooting integration functionality with various internal enterprise systems

Perform digital feature extraction from multiple data sources
-
Attribute digital data accurately
-
Understand and follow complex project specific guidance
-
Independently use technical resource and guidance documents
-
Perform data checks and other data quality controls including but not limited to attribution checks and managing associated documents
-
Clean geographic data errors and omissions
-
Cartographic editing to include feature displacement, thinning, symbolization, and annotation
-
Suggest and implement improved work methods
-
Independently organize, conceptualize and conduct large, advanced spatial analyses as part of a team or occasionally as a technical team leader

Work with project teams and clients to design and effectively employ GIS on regulatory and permitting elements of infrastructure projects

Assist the team with project marketing, budget development, and resource scheduling
-
Prepare quality assurance plans for GIS tasks and oversee their implementation
-
Supervise the GIS work of other professionals and ensure the successful completion of GIS projects or GIS tasks
-
Create maps, databases, and other deliverables on short notice

Develop geodatabase schemas and analysis methods needed to support project goals
-
Develop vector and raster spatial analysis models using ModelBuilder, Python or other GIS scripting languages to automate repetitive tasks

Develop and support web GIS applications using Esri Web App Builder, Story Maps, Collector, Survey 123 within the ArcGIS Online or Portal platform
-
Communicate and collaborate with remote team members and individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, both technical and non-technical
-

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
-
High School Diploma
-
3 years of experience, or equivalent combination of degree and related experience in drafting, inspection, mapping, and surveying which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.

Experience and/or training in Esri Web App Builder, Story Maps, Collector, Survey 123 within the ArcGIS Online or Portal platform.
-
Effective oral and written communication skills.
-
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualificaitons
Associate's degree in Civil Engineering or other closely related field.
