WTCR is one of the longest-serving medication assisted treatment networks in Texas, offering methadone and buprenorphine treatment and counseling for individuals suffering from Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). Our mission is to enhance the quality of life of our patients so that they may disrupt the cycle of OUD and have their best chance for a long-term meaningful recovery.
The medical assistant participates in providing medical treatment to WTCR patients under the direct supervision of a WTCR physician. These duties include assisting the clinical team by taking vital signs, collecting urine toxicology specimens, facilitating counseling sessions, assisting in the coordination of care of patients, and administrative tasks related to patient progress through treatment at WTCR.
Education/Experience
- Graduate of an accredited medical assistant training program.
Certifications
- Medical assistant certification preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
- Assisting in completion of patient medical evaluations, including a medical history, with results documented in patient medical records at required intervals.
- Assisting in the admission process and assessments for new patients;
- Participating in toxicology screen specimen collection as required;
- Assisting counseling staff by facilitating therapeutic counseling sessions either in-person or via video link at required intervals;
- Assisting clinical staff in coordinating patient care;
- Using a uniform language of case presentation when discussing patient cases;
- Assisting with temporary and permanent patient transfer arrangements as required;
- Assisting with compliance functions, participating in chart audits and other elements of a quality assurance plan;
- Communicating respectfully with patients and members of the treatment team.
Other
- Satisfactory criminal history and registry clearances.
- Satisfactory pre-employment drug screen as required by the State of Texas.
Hours/Benefits
- Early morning hours, Mon. – Fri. 5:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.; Sat. 5:45 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
