What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Wurth Industry North America?

Position Overview:

Purchase fastener products for assigned commodities. Responsible for sourcing materials, managing inventory and monitoring profitability. The Buyer will review requests, collaborate with vendors, sales, quality, accounting and logistics departments, examine price, quality, and availability of items, compare specifications, and review alternatives to requests to meet service degree, gross profit margin, inventory turns and/or other company objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBITLIES
include the following and all other duties assigned:

  • Issue purchase orders with suppliers for the procurement of product.
  • Collaborate with internal customers and deliver a high level of customer service.
  • Manage and resolve issues regarding PO-to-invoice discrepancies, PO-to-receiving inconsistencies, returns and quality issues with suppliers.
  • Work with Sourcing team to locate additional sources for an item where needed.
  • Update item cost and lead time records if necessary, on a case by case basis
  • Support and backup team members within the department as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, operations, logistics, materials management, or related field preferred; 3 years experience in purchasing/inventory management; or commensurate combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of forecasting, MRP, supply chain, and inventory management disciplines.
  • Experience with fastener and MRO products is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite; and advanced skills with Excel.
  • Ability to learn and apply new procedures and technologies.
  • SAP or other ERP experience preferred but not required.
  • Proven negotiation skills and demonstrated continuous improvement.
  • Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to problem solve and communicate solutions.
  • Critical thinking skills to use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Knowledge of the principles and processes involved in sourcing materials and analyzing demand.
  • Knowledge of the progressions for providing customer services including needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to define goals, seek information, and make recommendations with minimal supervision.
  • Sales and customer service (internal/external) focus
