JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Art Director will oversee the visual identity, look and of the brand, including but not limited to: on-air spots, off-channel multi-platform creative, print collateral, social media assets, set redesigns, experiential, paid media, give aways, OOH and more. You will work hand-in-hand with the Head of Marketing & Brand to develop ideas, lead design, graphics and creative that align with strategic goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
KEY COMPONENTS OF THIS ROLE INCLUDES:
- Provide Design Leadership for WUSA9 including the ownership of lifting our visual identity and presentation, the skills of our internal content and creative producers
- Articulate clear creative and design direction and productive feedback
- Improve consistency and creativity across our television, desktop, mobile and social platforms through Style Governance
- Research, recommend and implement processes, tools and techniques that support a vibrant creative culture and environment
- Be a best in class designer, and serve as a sought-after partner internally and with corporate, "The Tank" and other stations.
- Communicate with clarity and collaborate well with stakeholders and leaders about needs, opportunities, challenges and projects.
- Be solution-oriented and constantly evolve our product to keep pace with consumer change all while maintaining threads of consistency throughout platforms
- Play a key role in directing creative that promotes the station and ensuring it meets thresholds for quality, clarity, relevance and other brand health dimensions.
- Partner with stakeholders at the station including news and sales personnel. This includes developing strong and healthy partnerships with on-air talent in order to drive opportunities and engagement
- Conduct creative audits and critiques on minimum of a quarterly basis to consistently aim for greater quality and impact
- Manage all creative production technology – ensuring the station has best in class tools in this regard and that they are in active use
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 6-8 years hands-on design leadership and creative experience with promotion-specific and demonstrated record of success in the television/news industry, brand management, or marketing/digital/advertising agency.
- Proficient on Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects
- Firsthand, working knowledge of on-air and digital promotion production techniques, and familiarity with current production and photography trends.
- Experience translating broadcast designs and concepts to interactive digital and social media campaigns.
- Excellent management, interpersonal, leadership and communication skills with a track record of successfully managing and motivating creative teams.
- Experience as a motion graphic artist in a professional graphic design environment
- Strong understanding of user design and user experience
- An intimate understanding of and honed skill set around design, copy, production and other areas of creative.
- Outstanding leadership, communication and customer service skills
- Able to perform under very tight deadlines
- Broadcast experience preferred

BONUS SKILLS
- Ability to use Cinema 4D to create 3D text animations and basic modeling
- Knowledge of Boris FX software sets (Contiuum, Red, etc)
- Experience with Red Giant Software (cosmo, trapcode particular)
