Willamette Valley Animal Hospital of Tualatin is a fast-paced walk-in veterinary clinic. We are a four doctor small animal practice committed to providing affordable quality care to our furry friends!
We are looking for a full or part-time veterinary assistant that shares our love for animals to join our team! The ideal candidate will have a background with animal care and handling, is highly self-motivated and works well as a team and independently. The veterinary assistant is a key member of our team who will be supporting the veterinarians and technicians, and helping to ensure the safety of all the pets in our care.
Our clinic is the ideal place to start and grow a successful career for your passion and love for animals. Although experience is preferred, we're happy to train and teach the right person.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist doctors with patient care and treatment
- Restraining pets in a manner that allows necessary procedures to be done with minimal stress to patients, and ensure safety of patients and people
- Maintain & sterilize surgical instruments/equipment
- Clean/disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas of hospital
- take temperatures and vitals as requested by doctor
- Drawing up vaccines and medications
- Giving vaccines
- Preparing samples for outside laboratory testing
- Performing nail trims and anal gland expressions
- Client education
- IV catheter placement and phlebotomy (preferred, not required)
- Radiology (must be safety certified.) (preferred, not required)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $16.50 per hour
