Position: Radio Announcer- Casual

Reports to: Radio Program Manager

Status: Casual , Non Exempt

Responsibilities:

1. Program music selections, prepare and host fill-in air shifts as assigned, including: advance preparation of music listings according to music guidelines, posting in Composer 2 for web, presenting all program elements (underwriting, promos, traffic/weather/news etc.) as scheduled, in a personal way that engages the listener and speaks to WXXI’s Core Values.

2. Program and host a weekly, two-hour radio program on The Route according to music guidelines.

3. Carry out operation of Radio Master Control Studio, including: CD players, Enco Audio delivery System, live and direct satellite feeds, microphones, EAS tests, and programs from automated playlists. Work with Operations staff and/or PC Support staff to communicate discrepancies, report on underwriting execution, troubleshoot technical problems, and accurately report all program details.

4. Serve as host and pitch talent during station fundraising activities and represent WXXI at station events as assigned and available.

5. Occasionally assist with social media outreach efforts, to including FaceBook and/or Instagram.

6. Other related divisional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Thorough knowledge of music and performers, and foreign pronunciation as needed.

Knowledge of broadcast technology and on-air presentation

Demonstrated proficiency with computers and various social media.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Radio hosting experience preferred, public radio experience preferred

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
