MOTOR HAND
A Motor hand provides manual labor as required to operate and maintain the rigs diesel and electric engines. The Motor hand orders tools and replacement parts for these engines and is responsible for testing the machinery for operability and safety and is required to clean and maintain engines at all times. They also operate and maintain the boiler systems.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Works under the direct supervision of the Driller and is primarily responsible for taking care of all the motors on the rig. He/she must have a mechanical mind and the ability to trouble shoot, identify and repair minor problems that arise.
Check oil in all engines and top off as necessary
Check coolant levels and top off as necessary. Check antifreeze when needed
Check operating temperatures of all engines
Change oil, oil filters, fuel filters and scheduled intervals
Grease and service rig daily
Check oil pressure, temperature, fuel pressure and radiator water levels
Maintain engine and equipment reports in detail and advise Driller on condition of engines. Notify Driller immediately of any changes in engine operations
Check bearings of equipment for abnormal heat and/or vibrations
Insure diesel is supplied to all rig engines and heaters
Maintains load safe pipe handler and operates as required
Maintain and service boiler and air heater
Ensure safety procedures are followed
Assist in casing running operations
Assist mechanics with all on-location repairs
