Contracts Manager
Location: Albuquerque, NM or San Antonio/Luling, TX
Overview: This role requires the regular application of strong subject matter expertise to understand program performance requirements and provide guidance in support of program and financial objectives. Additionally, the Manager, Contracts is required to support Program Management leadership, the General Counsel, and cross-functional peers in all contractual related matters affecting the applicable programs. This role supports a geographically dispersed team located across the continental U.S..
Responsibilities:
- Support programs and other functional areas in the management of contracts and proposal compliance.
- Reviews, interprets, and recommends contractual terms and conditions during proposal reviews or draft contract reviews.
- Participates in developing policies, procedures, and standard practices to ensure contract activities achieve desired objectives and timetables.
- Reviews proposal packages to ensure they meet company procedures and customer solicitation requirements.
- Identifies contract issues and responds to a variety of unusually complex inquiries while providing leadership in developing innovative solutions.
- Reviews draft and fully executed contractual documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Advises management of contractual rights and obligations and provides interpretation of terms and conditions.
- May participate in cost and pricing reviews with Contracts and Program Management.
- Maintains, analyzes, updates, and develops various electronic and hard copy records.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline, along with fifteen or more years of progressive professional experience in contract administration.
- Must have a thorough understanding of contract principles, theories, concepts, and regulations, and experience demonstrating a broad application of those practices, techniques, and standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential
- Proven leadership in a complex, fast-paced environment, where prioritization is required to be effective
- Extensive FAR-based contractual experience with demonstrated ability to teach and mentor junior contracts professionals
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with customers and internal partners based on understanding, teamwork, and trust
- Effectively manage a high volume of proposals and negotiations, coordinate program support, and effectively communicate status and help needed to internal partners
- Demonstrated ability to find equitable solutions to complex problems with various customers
- Ability to understand, quantify, and communicate contractual and financial risk
- Significant knowledge of contract formation with a broad understanding of risk, terms and conditions, and contractual mitigations while complying with internal policies
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and situations
