POSITION SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineer will plan, design, set up, modify, optimize, and monitor manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, and productivity. The manufacturing engineer will also manage capacity addition, process improvement, and/or equipment replacement projects including project scope, costing, business case development, resource planning, timeline, and execution.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrates company values and shares the organizational commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and a high-performance workforce through positive employee relations.
- Supports Operations and Maintenance in reducing or eliminating equipment and tooling downtime, utilizing solid analytical methodologies, including hands on evaluation and interaction with plant personnel.
- Manages capacity addition, process improvement, and/or equipment replacement projects to include project scope, costing, business case development, resource planning, timeline, and execution.
- Collaborates closely with cross-functional project team to develop a proposal of improvement initiatives including process, equipment, and product improvements with relevant details such as the scope of work, timelines, labor requirements, costs, and return on investment.
- Applies a hands-on approach to problem solving and project/solution implementation.
- Manages and forecasts associated project capital spending compared to budgeted costs.
- Generates vendor technical scope of supply documents and works closely with purchasing team in negotiating capital purchases.
- Prepares and presents detailed financial analysis including project budgets, ROI analysis, and forecasts.
- Collaborates with EHS, operations, and process engineering to improve safety and optimize manufacturing processes to reduce process times to lower product standard costs.
- Supports and maintains error-proofing methodologies.
- Supports facility and production line enhancements.
- Supports and develops department or maintenance projects/activities with good engineering direction. Participates in and facilitates the team Lean strategies and methodologies.
- Documents all activities as required.
- When relevant, helps to optimize maintenance programs and practices.
- Composes and publishes standard training documents and single-point lessons.
- Performs all other job duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates continuous improvement behaviors by identifying and resolving problems and offering and implementing suggestions that promote the achievement of team and company objectives; leads continuous improvement projects and initiatives.

Requirements
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Minimum five (5) years of demonstrated manufacturing engineering and capital project management in metal working/machining manufacturing process
- CAD experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is desirable
- Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing, mechanical, and electrical processes
- Knowledge of computer or PLC-based machine control systems is desirable.
- Expertise designing, operating, troubleshooting, or maintaining manual and CNC machine tools including, lathes, mills, cylindrical grinders, EDMs, machining centers, etc.
- Practical knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma practices
- Strong skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint) with the ability to learn new systems and tools quickly
- High degree of mechanical and technical skills
- Strong organizational and follow-through skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and project manage in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to read, interpret and create mechanical, electrical drawings
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration abilities to work with cross-functional teams to solve problems, create, and implement solutions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of statistical analysis including Six Sigma, control charts, etc. with data-utilization orientation when determining root cause
- High degree of competency with measuring devices both in (SI) metric and US customary units.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to perform the following physical demands with or without accommodation:
- Ability to sit and utilize a computer for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around an office and industrial environment for up to 8 hours a day.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on an infrequent basis.
- Ability to bend, kneel, and climb on an occasional basis in an office and industrial setting to evaluate facility and equipment/products/materials.
- Ability to hear, speak, read, and understand English effectively to communicate with other employees, agencies, and vendors. Additional language skills may be required dependent upon location served.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of travel, approximately 5-10%, including driving, flying, moving throughout airports, etc.
