The Job
We're looking for an experienced product leader for a fast growing part of our strategy and platform: our engagements with major buying organizations (holding company, agency, and marketer).
As the Director of Product Management for our SSP’s buyer-facing offerings, you will be responsible for the product lines and product strategy for that enable partnerships and direct media buying relationships, along with product capabilities that enable the sellers and curators who use our enterprise platforms to best engage with their own direct buying partners. If you enjoy working in ad tech, are deeply familiar with programmatic buying and selling with a particular eye toward the buy side of the ecosystem, and are looking to make an immediate impact in your next role, we’d be thrilled to speak with you.
As a Director of Product Management, you will drive the product strategy and plan for a strategic part of our platform and business, with limitless white space to define, own, and execute on this vital product area. This requires someone who can immerse themselves in the industry dynamics, buys-side organizational and operational structures, and business and product needs for holding companies, agencies, and marketers active in programmatic buying. The programmatic space continues to evolve rapidly, and Xandr is an industry leader helping define the ecosystem dynamics for the next era. This role will be pivotal in our organization, and the programmatic space more broadly, in shaping the way that buyers engage with Xandr Monetize, and SSPs generally in this industry.
The role will be comprised of a heavy strategic element, building and driving the product strategy to be executed by a wide and cross functional group of Product and Engineering organizations. This product leader will also drive execution directly for some of the resulting product initiatives, managing the building and commercialization for some buyer-facing products her/himself..
The Team
The Xandr Monetize and Xandr Curate Product Management team is responsible for building and managing our sell-side technology, allowing buyers and sellers of digital media to package, buy, and sell advertising inventory with powerful technology at global scale, on one of the largest and most impactful platforms in this space. As a team we solve some of the most substantial industry problems, driving product strategy and commercialization for an industry-leading set of products in a very fast moving space, getting things done across a global and cross-functional landscape, while executing on the ongoing evolution of our platforms. Our team is truly global, with most of this Product team split between our New York headquarters, various cities on the US West Coast, and a number of European hubs.
You Will
- Own the product strategy and long-range direction for our SSP’s buyer-facing offerings
- In the future this may also entail managing Product Managers working with you on these product lines
- Lead the near and mid-term product roadmap and plan, driving some initiatives yourself while involving and influencing other Product groups to drive the work falling in their product areas
- Keep a finger on the pulse of partner/customer needs, and identify priorities for new products, services, or enhancements.
- Strong background in product management as a discipline, best practices, and the place of product management in a successful technology product operation.
- Build support across the organization for new products and strategic direction.
- Lead partnership with business and technical teams to scope products that will meet the needs of the business while carefully managing priorities and investment.
- Collaborate with partnering holding companies’, agencies’, and marketers’ teams and develop relationships with key leads on these partners’ teams, ensuring a product plan that suits these buyers’ needs and direction, while acting as the face of Xandr’s Product organization for these partners
- Work with other Product and Engineering teams across the organization to ensure delivery of the features needed for holding companies, agencies, and marketers engaging with our SSP
- Close partnership with the Commercial and Operational teams who work with holding companies, agencies, and marketers, together forming the overall strategy and plan for this business line while ensuring key product needs are met.
- Close partnership with the Engineering team to manage and execute on the product roadmap, including everything from strategic initiatives to ongoing enhancements, managing through system issues, and technical initiatives.
You Have
- 10 years of experience in product management or closely related disciplines
- Deep understanding of the digital advertising technology industry, with programmatic advertising experience preferred
- Strong experience leading product development, with a proven track record managing a large-scale product backlog and roadmap, and demonstrated success with product launches
- Team and people management experience and proven skillset
- End-to-end ownership of product lifecycle, from early stage strategy and ideation through to management of delivered products in market
- Ability to lead by influence, including successfully delivering across matrixed product, technical, and business teams
- Experience with product commercialization, taking features and larger scale products to market collaborating with internal teams on go-to-market strategy, story and positioning, training, materials, and other enablement activities
- Strong ability to isolate signal from noise in industry trends and product feedback, identifying and prioritizing the right problems to solve
- Extremely strong communicator, able to adeptly manage across executive level communications, large scale presentations, down to detailed communication on product functionality and thinking
- Adept at managing the tradeoffs inherent in product investment, making responsible prioritization decisions considering key factors such as business value, cost and complexity to build, industry and competitive dynamics, and other priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding and experience in the ad agency world, especially in the realm of their programmatic buying strategy and operations.
- Experience with the products and strategies involved in buyers’ (holding company, agency, marketer) direct engagements with SSPs.
- Industry thought leadership, including presentation at events/conferences and/or publication in industry trade press.
