We are seeking a Bed Throughput Manager at Memorial Hermann in Houston, Texas.
The Bed Throughput Manager will be responsible for working closely with facilities, medical staff, executives, department heads and nursing staff to effectively direct patient flow including bed management, ED/IP transfers and direct admissions. The Bed Throughput manager promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, fosters teamwork and champions service excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Works with hospital management, departmental and interdepartmental staff to identify operational opportunities related to patient flow.
- Assists in the development and evaluation of solutions and assists in the establishment of action plans for improvement.
- Assists in executing system strategies related to transfer and patient flow processes.
- Responsible for day to day operations of patient flow.
- Assures quality communications by developing patient flow standards, protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Hires and maintains appropriate staffing levels and utilization of personnel; ensures the highest quality of professional skill through training, development, and performance evaluations.
- Communicates information to and from staff and maintains a positive communication style.
- Collects, correlates, analyzes, and interprets operational, financial, and statistical data and informs and advises appropriate members of the senior management team of potential business opportunities.
- Ensures that each access point optimally serves patient needs.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
- Establishes and attains organizational goals and objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Employees in Healthcare are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a term and condition of employment at Xanitos, absent a legally required Medical or Religious exception, and are required to report their vaccination status and upload proof of vaccination via a secure online portal.
- High School diploma required. College degree or equivalent work experience preferred. Must have one to three years of supervisory experience in a service-related field with high customer/client contact.

- Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines; self-directed.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- Knowledge of hospital operations with emphasis on emergency department and capacity management/throughput preferred.
- Skilled in problem resolution.
- Knowledge of productivity, financial operations, and reporting systems.
- Ability to exercise a high degree of judgment, initiative, discretion, and decision-making.
- Attention to detail and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in the use of Windows based office software
