POSITION OVERVIEW
The selected candidate must
- Assists the Mission Systems Engineering (MSE) Organization and Enterprise Architecture (EA) in the development and implementation of Enterprise Data Modeling standards.
- Analyzes MSE and EA data requirements to ensure development efforts align with the corporate data standards, the Enterprise Architecture, and future transformation efforts.
- Implement and maintain Enterprise Data Modeling Governance processes to include change management and configuration management for enterprise data models.
- Identifies and manages data model domain data stewards and conduct data modeling enabling activities including the development of the Enterprise Logical Data Model (ELDM), the Enterprise Data Dictionary (EDD), Physical Data Models, data format specifications, model releases, data harmonization and mapping across the data models, the modification of tools to support data modeling, and software application programming interfaces and converters to enable data model implementations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Level 2 - Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Systems, or Computer Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. A Master's degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience, thereby reducing the total years of experience to 10 years.
- Level 3 - Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Systems, or Computer Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. A Master's degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience, thereby reducing the total years of experience to 18 years.
Experience
- Level 2 - Twelve (12) years' experience as a Data Modeler or Data Architect in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required
- Level 3 - Twenty (20) years' experience as a Data Modeler or Data Architect in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills Requirements
The Level 2 Systems Data Modeler shall possess the following capabilities:
- Map legacy data stores/formats to logical and physical data models
- Design and assess system interfaces, end-to-end data flows, and data storage and retrieval solutions for data modeling effort
- Create data element definitions and dictionaries
- Perform UML and ERO data model development
- Perform XML schema generation and application ofrelated XML technologies (i.e. W3C XML standards, XML Parsers, XSLT, Fast lnfoset, Namespaces , XLink, XPath, and XMI)
- Create, submit, analyze, and review data model change requests and change proposals
- Develop and maintain domain data models and physical formats required for specific projects across the Enterprise
- Perform requirements analysis
- Manage System Engineering efforts
- Coordinate Stakeholder input for model development and Technical Peer Review
- Metadata Harmonization activities supporting the NSA Enterprise.
- Years Three (3) Designing and assessing system interfaces, end-to-end data flows, and data storage and retrieval solutions. UML data modeling.
- Experience using Sybase PowerDesigner, IBM Rational Rose or Telelogic System Architect.
The Level 3 Systems Data Modeler shall possess the following capabilities:

- Ensure architectural alignment of OV-7 and SV-11 data models with other DoDAF architecture products
- Metadata Harmonization activities supporting the NSA Enterprise.
- Five (5) Years Designing and assessing system interfaces, end-to-end data flows, and data storage and retrieval solutions. UML data modeling.
- Experience using Sybase PowerDesigner, IBM Rational Rose or Telelogic System Architect.
