Job Description
The ECN/ECO Planner is the key point of contact for the analysis and implementation of ECO changes through the material stream into manufacturing. The candidate for this position must have experience in planning, engineering change, and production. The analysis of the Engineering Change Request (ECR) for supply-demand, material disposition, implementation into manufacturing, and associated cost impact is critical to assure seamless implementation avoiding production impacts. The analysis and recommendations are essential to the Change Control Board (CCB) process. The ECO planner will be an expert in the ERP system to conduct the analysis and work closely with the part planners, buyers, materials, and engineering.
- Develop and document ECN Planner process flow.
- Perform detailed analysis of ECR’s including supply-demand, material stream, disposition recommendations, cost analysis.
- Provide analysis to product and part planners, purchasing, materials, and production and establish and advise on proper dispositions, cut-in approach, and effectivity date.
- Analysis requires advance skill with ERP, MRP, PDM and Excel.
- Evaluate and recommend forward compliance action to facilitate the ECO implementation. Monitor the forward compliance process until ECO cut-in is complete thru production.
- Analyse and recommend the cut-in, disposition, rework action thru materials and production, and effectivity date.
- Align with Quality and Product Management on customer approval and act as final gate on ECO implementation in the material stream to assure approval is complete (i.e. copy exactly, customer qualification).
- Monitor the ECO implementation for effectivity alignment and recommend push or pull based on consumption and conditions on the ground in materials and manufacturing.
- Must be a strong voice for materials and manufacturing in CCB and other ECO collaborative sessions.
- The implications to delivery, and supply chain cost of rushed and poorly planned ECOs must be mitigated thru the ECR analysis and CCB rigor.
- Advise engineering and CCB on ECRs/ECOs that need to be fast-tracked based on material or production constraints i.e. obsolescence, extended lead-time, and manufacturer availability.
- Participate in weekly CCB and Post ECO Implementation team meetings.
- Adhere to all PPE, ESD, Quality standards for the manufacturing site.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience ECO planning/specialist roles preferred. Planning experience required
- Degree in Engineering or Business preferred
- Strong to Advanced knowledge and skill with computer, MRP, ERP, and PDM, Excel is essential.
- Knowledge of manufacturing controls required – Supply-Demand, Inventory control, Part Masters, Bills of Materials, Engineering drawings and Change Orders, Document Control, and Work Instructions.
- Strong analytic skills and multitasking abilities as well as identifying and resolving issues with limited supervision.
- Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and tenacious follow through.
- Proven ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment with changing workloads and deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Ability to lift to 25 lbs.
