Mobile Diesel Fleet Technician/Mechanic
Mobile Fleet Technicians will travel to various sites and provide maintenance, repair, and diagnostic services for gas and diesel vehicles and forestry equipment to include but are not limited to engine services, brake service, diagnosis, DOT inspections, cooling system service, etc. Most common service calls include scheduled services & repairs, break down response, DOT inspections, PM services and some after-hours and emergency repairs and/or maintenance. All technicians will drive to work sites, so a clean motor vehicle report and driver license is required. CDL Licenses are preferred. Ability and willingness to travel, including stays out of town, required!
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform instructed and scheduled repairs, preventative maintenance, and services as needed on various vehicles and equipment as required to maximize the safety, productivity, and life of each unit.
- Inspect and maintain aerial lift equipment to maintain the safety and reliability of each unit.
- Perform welding maintenance and repairs on equipment when required.
- Fabricate parts as required including any design work needed.
- Obtain parts from local vendors throughout work sites and manage part inventory.
- Accurately complete DOT and internal company forms, reports and documentation in timely manner.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety standards, procedures, and rules/requirements.
- Complete all other duties as assigned by the Lead Fleet Mechanic and/or the Fleet Manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Heavy Duty truck repair technical training or 2 years related experience
- Current and Valid Driver’s License Required
- 2 years’ experience in performing DOT and Air Brake Inspections (additional schooling and/or certifications preferred, but not required)
- Knowledge of and experience in gas and diesel engines and controls, transmissions and controls, brakes, suspensions, and hydraulics including diagnostics.
- Skilled in diagnosis and repairs of electrical systems on vehicles and equipment
- Skilled in welding, brazing, cutting and/or soldering.
- Experience in the operation of various vehicles and pieces of equipment.
- Ability to use a tablet/computer and software including opening and closing repair orders, sending and receiving emails, etc.
Physical requirements include standing, bending, lifting (50 lbs.), and sitting for long periods of time in varied temperatures and weather conditions.
PREFERRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED, QUALIFICATIONS:
- Class B CDL License
- Bi-Lingual Communication Skills
