The Role: Xylem Americas seeks to hire an Operations Project Manager who will be responsible for leading the execution of projects including, introduction of new product initiatives. The Project Manager is tasked to ensure clear communication, support of NPD Products, and delivery of a manufactured product that meets customer needs, production transfers and other critical operations-focused initiatives crossing over multiple functional areas.
Essential Functions:
- Assemble and manage the performance of cross-functional teams.
- Schedule and conduct regular project meetings to ensure that projects are developed from a supply chain perspective, including coordinating with all cognizant organizations to ensure the new product initiative is completed on schedule and on budget
- Create and manage to project plans (tasks, resources, schedules) for product/process development activities, production transfers and cross-functional network initiatives.
- Support overall operational readiness by assessing, and communicating risks and status succinctly to management, escalating key issues and presenting options for resolution
- Provide Operations with decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs, reviewing production schedules and estimating future requirements
- Work concurrently with the all organizations to develop and maintain the Project schedule to achieve all deliverables for gate reviews
- Facilitate periodic reviews with the cross-functional leadership team
- Collaborate with manufacturing and design engineers to determine and document the manufacturing requirements for new processes or modifications to existing processes, as required
- Coordinate with cross functional teams to plan & execute validation, factory pilot, and first article inspection builds
- For each owned program ensure part availability, workforce requirements, safety training, internal testing, shipment of products, investment authorization requests, manufacturing footprint changes, engineering to pilot builds, design for manufacturing workshops (DFM), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Use knowledge of project management, enterprise-wide supply chains and knowledge of manufacturing operations to function as an integral member of a development team devoted to sustainable world-class manufacturing & supply chain operations supporting key strategic NPD projects.
- Actively participate in activities/deliverables, project plan development, updates to management and other core team activities to help establish project direction to ensure total team success.
- Collaborate with internal functions and suppliers to finalize product design, material selection & process selection. Participate in assessing supplier robustness and collaborate on process excellence initiatives for continuous improvement.
- Understands demand planning and works with internal and external teams to develop capacity plans for scale up including requirements for capital and validation expenses.
- Contribute to decision-making in key areas of the project including financial, marketing, planning, quality and design. Ensure all areas of the supply chain (Make, Buy and Plan) are involved and engaged throughout the project lifecycle, providing two-way communications between project teams and supply chain functions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience or a MS Degree with a minimum of 3 years professional experience
- Ability to multi-task in fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility environment and work well as part of a team
- Project Management skills with strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects while meeting quality, schedule, and cost targets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Fluency in MS Office software applications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with the key manufacturing process
- Experience delivering New Products Introductions, manufacturing ramp up, production transfers or multi-site projects
- PMP Certification
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to communicate orally.
- Ability to use hands and fingers dexterously to operate office equipment.
- Must occasionally lift/ transport up to 25 pounds.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Work Environment:
- Shop/Job Site: While this position is based in an office setting, there will be daily exposure to a warehouse/shop environment, as this position requires time spent on the production floor.
- Travel: Occasional travel up to 5-10% may be required.
The estimated salary range at this professional level is $95,000 to $110,000 plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
