Requirements
Roles and Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
• Lead the controls engineering team, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure a coordinated approach to system design and integration.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements related to control systems in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries.
Control System Design and Development:
• Design and develop control systems for custom automation equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
• Create detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams for control systems.
• Select appropriate hardware components, such as PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and actuators, based on project specifications and performance requirements.
• Develop and maintain software programs for PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems, using industry-standard programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text).
• Ensure that the design documentation sets between projects are maintained on the Xyntek and or client approved templates, and meet all Xyntek, Client, and Industry
Standards System Integration and Testing:
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and software developers to integrate control systems into overall automation solutions.
• Conduct system-level testing and troubleshooting to ensure proper functionality and performance of control systems.
• Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT) activities, ensuring that control systems meet all specified requirements.
• Act as the escalation point for any controls system issues which arise during the build, installation, or warranty of a system. The lead controls engineer will work and guide the Systems Engineers and Field Technicians when required.
Documentation and Compliance:
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including control system specifications, user manuals, and validation documents, in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, such as FDA guidelines for pharmaceutical automation equipment.
• Collaborate with quality assurance and validation teams to support the validation process of control systems.
Project Management:
• Coordinate and prioritize controls engineering tasks across multiple projects, ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets.
• Provide regular progress updates to project managers and other stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with control system development and implementation.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in industrial or electrical engineering, automation, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in controls engineering, preferably in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industries.
- Strong knowledge of control system design principles, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.
- Proficiency in programming PLCs and HMIs using industry-standard languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text).
- Experience with electrical design tools, such as AutoCAD or EPLAN. Familiarity with relevant industry regulations, such as FDA guidelines and GAMP5.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Project management experience is a plus.
