Position Overview
The Corporate Controller will plan and direct the accounting operations of the company. This position oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which includes billing, general accounting, cost accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll. The Corporate Controller is responsible for ongoing improvement of process efficiencies and internal controls and works closely with peers in all functional areas (i.e., Operations) to improve efficiency and profitability. This position is located in our office in Melbourne, FL.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
- Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles
- Recommends KPI’s and benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance
- Coordinates with the FP&A Analyst the analysis, explanation and follow up for significant budget differences
- Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on revenue assurance, project/cost accounting, profitability improvement, expense reductions, and business improvement
- Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
- Supports CFO with regular and ad-hoc presentations to senior management and board of directors
- Oversees training programs for the Accounting team and identifies training needs
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration
- 8-10 years of related experience
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
- Excellent management and supervisory skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ensures Accounting team is committed to pragmatic business support and effective teamwork with all functional areas of the company (i.e., Operations, HR, General Management)
- Positive “can-do”, results/solutions focus and attitude
- Proficient in accounting software such as QuickBooks, and other ERP accounting systems
- High proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft applications
- Experience in construction and/or manufacturing industries preferred
- Experience with accounting software (ERP) implementation preferred
- 20%-30% travel to other YCOM offices in Florida and Atlanta as needed
